Baldur's Gate is a novel based on the hit computer game. I was relatively pleased with it. The character's were fairly good, and you got the sense that the main characters could die.

The plot was average, but intersting. However, there is one thing that stands out in this book. Gore! This is fantasy, you definately need your share of battles and blood, but this was just too much. The very first fight, which started right away, was with some armsmen. Good. Nice, simple fight, turn away the sword and finish them off, right? Wrong! I have read a lot of FR, and this is by far the bloodiest hack and slash yet. I pulled the book away and thought, I didn't need to know that, I can picture it myself. This book is just way too gorey. The ending was rather unfinal (there is no sequal, at least yet). It's an average novel, but pleasing (if your not faint at heart).
