WARNING: SPOILERS!! DO NOT READ BELOW IF YOU HAVE NOT READ THE NOVEL.

This has to be one of the best Forgotten Realms novels I have ever read. From the opening chapter I felt so pulled in by the novel. The author set the scene and atmosphere so much that my heart was actually racing! Paul S Kemp has done an excellent job in bringing the main characters of the novel to life and in creating a living and sinister feeling about the hidden side of Selgaunt.

I was left in awe after reading the descriptions of the killings, particularily the assassinations and such on the Zhentarim part of the story. The author described the feelings of dying in such a way that youd believed he had actually died and returned himself! It sent a shiver up my spine.

The whole feeling of the gates to the Abyss affecting the guildhouse were even nausiating to me as I was reading and the descriptions of dealing with the undead were the best ive read.

This really is a fantastic novel and kept me gripped constantly. Theres no wonder that Erevis Cale has become a popular character and im sure that Paul Kemp will be one of the greatest authors of the Realms. I cant wait for the Erevis Cale Trilogy to start next year!!!
