I just checked on the Paizo boards and a Dungeon reader wanted to know how or if the Wind Dukes of Aaqa fighting the Queen of Chaos with the Rod of Seven Parts in pre history could be used as part of a Realms campaign. For anyone that doesn't know, the first adventure in the Age of Worms Adventure Path has a tomb to a lesser wind duke in it and makes passing references to the Rod and the war in ancient Auran. Most of it is only background material, and isn't going to end up the main focus of the campaign.

My first thought was that the Law/Chaos War could have been fought across several planes, and that the Realms was one such stopover point in the conflict, thus meaning that you wouldn't have to worry about the comments referring to these antideluvian events becuase the fighting happened across the planes. Thus a crypt on this world is not harder to figure out than how Githyanki end up in Faerun's astral plane or Illithids end up everywhere . . . in pre history a lot of plane spanning events happened, and Toril's gates allowed a lot of traffic.

But dispite that answer, I couldn't help but wonder if there was a way to change the tomb to a follower of Calim during his war with Memnon, and in this case the Rod may have been found on another plane and used
against Calim, and the Djinni managed to take it and scatter the parts. The whole Chaos War and Rod of Seven Parts is going to be mainly filler in this campaign, so why not make the filler have a bit more Realmslore.

At any rate, I thought that in deference to that poster at Paizo I would posit the question where a few more knowlagable Realms scholars might take a whack at the question.

If I was going to do a campaign involving the Rod of Seven Parts, it would definitely range across many planes and worlds -- all the parts of a multipart artifact used in that scale of conflict simply wouldn't wind up on one world.

I could certainly see dropping a piece or two in the Realms, and having the campaign start from there, but it would eventually have to go elsewhere.
