So I'm running games in a number of time periods and wanted to ask the best place to get information on them.

Here are the time frames. Any help would be priceless.

-642 The Year of Requiem and about 50 years on to -592 or so.

-339 The Year of Sundered Webs:: I know the 2ed Nethril: Empire of Magic but anywhere else?

-9 The Year of Fell Traitors: Mainly in the Moonsea Region (or really anywhere I could have a town on an island I can mess up good)

973 The Year of the Emptied Lair: Chult mainly. Heck info on Chult from ANY time frame would be good.

Thanks in advance.

I myself am pretty good with six-fingered typing!

Thoroughness is often a synonym for hard work. Lots of two fingered typing went into my last post!

Here are some timeline references for this period:

-630 Year of Orphaned Princes
The dwarven clans Battlehammer and Ironshield depart Delzoun and establish Mithral Hall, and Settlestone in the mountains east of the Lurkwood. Gandalug Battlehammer is crowned First King of Mithral Hall. The former hold of Gharraghaur known as Andalbruin is also settled by Clan Ironshield dwarves during this time.
-628 Year of Empty Crowns
The dwarves of Clan Ironshield abandon the settlement of Andalbruin for the higher, more defensible Settlestone.
-626 Year of Oaths Forsaken
A group of outcast Netherese wizards known as the Selskar Order build a school of wizardry called the Tower of the Star in the ruins of Andalbruin.
-623 Year of Clipped Wings
Narfell launches a disastrous seaborne invasion of Unther and Mulhorand, which is easily defeated.
The Kingdom of Durpar is founded under Maharajah Udandwi, uniting all the trading communities along the northern coast of the Golden Water.
-620 Year of Noble Souls
After over half a century of negotiation the syl-pasha of Calimshan strikes a confidential trade agreement with the Matron Mother of Guallidurth, the closest drow city to the realm, in exchange for the withdrawal of her forces from beneath Calimport and the other Calishite cities. This withdrawal takes another ninety years, as not all forces answer to the matron Mother of Guallidurth, and a House rebellion in that city also adds fuel to the Night Wars.
-612 Year of Sudden Mourning
Birth of Coronal Tannivh of Cormanthyr’s seventh son, Eltargrim, in Semberholme.
-605 Year of Lingering Nightfall
The military outpost of Duathamper in Cormanthyr is moved underground to avoid the depredations of the green wyrm Venominhandar and its draconic followers.
-599 Year of Hasty Messengers
The Spider Plagues ravage Calimshan.
-585 Year of Rumbling Earth
The troll warlord Harska Thaug gathers a horde of trolls and orcs and leads it south from the Spine of the World to assault the elven realm of Rilithar. The horde lays waste to all in its path and attacks the Tower of the Star, the school of wizardry constructed by the Selskar Order. They summon the slaad lord Bazim-Gorag, “the Firebringer”, who decimates the horde causing it to flee back north to the Spine of the World.
-584 Year of Pyramids
Harska Thaug gathers another horde which overruns and pillages the Tower of the Star, bringing an end to the Selskar Order.
-582 Year of Glittering Coins
The horde of Harska Thaug assaults the elven realm of Rilithar on the eastern slopes of the Sword Mountains. The elves give battle and shatter the horde but not before their largest settlements are overrun and laid waste. The elves of Rilithar begin to rebuild, their strength greatly weakened.

-339 The Year of Sundered Webs:: I know the 2ed Nethril: Empire of Magic but anywhere else?

-339 Year of Sundered Webs
Ioulaum of Netheril abandons his floating city for his lair in the depths of the Northdark while civil unrest peaks in Low Netheril.
Fall of Netheril: nearly all of the Netherese enclaves fall to the earth and are destroyed due to disruptions in the Weave brought about by the casting of the spell Karsus’ Avatar and the subsequent death of the goddess Mystryl. The body of the momentary god Karsus falls to earth in the eastern region of the High Forest.
The Netherese floating city of Selűnarra escapes the destruction of Netheril through the grace of the Moonmaiden who transfers the enclave and its entire population to the Gates of the Moon.
Establishment of the Netherese survivor states of Anauria, Asram and Hlondath as well as the underground city of Philock in the middle Underdark beneath the Wood of Sharp Teeth.
The archwizard Raumark leads a flight of Netherese skyships far to the south to settle the Halruaan basin.
The archwizard Larloch escapes the destruction of his floating enclave Jiksidur, which crashes on the northern borders of Narfell. He discovers the ruins of Orbedal, the floating enclave of his rival Rhaugilath “the Ageless”, and builds present-day Warlock’s Crypt. He also discovers the remains of Rhaugilath whom he binds to his will after a fierce battle, making him the first of his many lich servitors.
The fall of Netheril and the death of Mystryl creates a huge whirlpool from the surface of the Inner Sea down to the mythal at Myth Nantar in Seros, destroying many buildings and dragging surface ships to watery graves. The Netherese enclaves of Nhalloth and Sakkors crash into the Inner Sea and are destroyed.

-9 The Year of Fell Traitors: Mainly in the Moonsea Region (or really anywhere I could have a town on an island I can mess up good)

-9 Year of Fell Traitors
The Circle of Flames, a wizards’ cabal, forms in the city of Cormanthor.
Clan Fyrson of Tethyr voluntarily goes outlaw and joins the pirates., after the murder of clan chief Tavis II by his brother Volsun. Volsun assumes the mantle of Black Alaric, started by his late paternal uncle.

973 The Year of the Emptied Lair: Chult mainly. Heck info on Chult from ANY time frame would be good.

973 Year of the Emptied Lair
A horde of Crinti shadow marauders from Dambrath rides into Halruaa through the Nath Pass, raiding towns and villages and sparking a series of skirmishes between the two nations that lasts for four years.

Hope this helps.

Africa with snake people and dinosaurs and a really powerful Necromancer wandering the jungle and several mortals that embody certain powers that Ubtao granted them to keep the people of Chult safe . . . but other than that quick synopsis I am at a loss because I don't have my copy of Ring of Winter with me.
Bane_the_Dark_Lord Posted - 01 Jul 2005 : 05:53:42
Hmm..that just expanded Chult more then I knew about it.

I never pictured it as Africa with the snake people and dinosaurs running around down here.
KnightErrantJR Posted - 01 Jul 2005 : 05:51:19
Ack . . . he did it.

Okay, Tabaxi officially were cat people detailed in the 1st edition Fiend Folio. In the original big maps of the Realms there is a huge section that is written across Chult that says "Land of the Tabaxi."

When Chult was detailed in Ring of Winter and Jungles of Chult, all of the inhabitants were given a more mythological Africa feel, and the term Tabaxi was used as a tribal name for the humans in Chult, even though it originally meant the cat people from the old Fiend Folio.

Now the closest thing we have to a Tabaxi is a Catfolk, which helps to clear things up a bit, but things back in 2nd Edition got real muddy for a while, especially when the 2e stats for Tabaxi showed up and they were mentioned as living in Maztica as well.

So, to sum up, Tabaxi originally referred to cat people, originally cat people were suppose to live in Chult, Chult was changed to a fantasy Africa, Tabaxi became a reference to the tribes in Chult (of which some are indeed catfolk, but most are human), and 3rd edition has catfolk but has yet to mention the term Tabaxi.

Clear? LOL

Well that was just asking for it. What is Tabaxi?

The Second Edition Adventure Jungles of Chult is a start if you can find a copy, and the novel Ring of Winter is also set in Chult.

In addition to Chult, for that area looking for information on the aspect of Shar known as Eshadow that is in that region? (I may have spelled it wrong, was mentioned in the FRCS)

The Chult sourcebook from 2e.

Powers & Pantheons from 2e for the Chult deities.
Faiths & Avatars from 2e for the Shar info.

With the exceptions of Myth Drannor and Netheril, most of the material we've had over the years sticks with what is, at the time of printing, the present day Realms.

The grand timeline my errant friend mentioned is now hosted on this very site: A Grand History of the Realms.
KnightErrantJR Posted - 01 Jul 2005 : 05:23:33
Try this timeline for a start. I have found that it is great to at least coordinate what has and hasn't happened by a given date, and some of the Big Time events that have come up.
