Posted - 16 Mar 2006 : 13:38:56 I was wondering if anyone else feels that the lunar magic feat is a bit weak? If so, does anyone have a suggestion that would make it more appealing to players, without overpowering the feat. I am trying to run a campaign based around the Knights of the Blue Moon in the Waterdeep book. I feel that a feat that 3 days of the month gives a character -1 caster lvl and 3 days a month gives a character +1 caster lvl does not really have a benefit since it's overall bonus cancels out. Most feats give the players an overall advantage, and I would like to edit this feat for my game in someway that would make it on par with other spellcasting feats such as spell penetration, combat casting, and spell focus. I really like the idea behind the feat that Selune effects the weave based on the current phase of the moon; however, I think that the feat's benefits need to outweigh any drawbacks, such as a penalty on nights of the new moon. |

Simply +1 at the full moon wouldn’t really be balanced against Spell Focus, but combined with it, makes a nice all-around stack. (assuming they do stack, which I would hope.) +1 full AND an additional spell slot of your highest level seems a little more fair to me though.

It works well for adding pure flavor, though. If I was to play a Selûnite spellslinger, I'd likely take this feat. |

Posted - 16 Mar 2006 : 15:31:03 Hello-
You might consider, if you have not yet, reading Mistress of the Night by Don Bassingthwaite and Dave Gross. This is book 2 of the Clerics series - but the series is comprised of stand-alone stories - and can be read in any order.
The book has numerous instances of Selunites casting spells - and you could quite easilly get some ideas for what you are trying to do.
There - I did what I wanted to without including any spoilers. Except I guess that there are Selunites in the book who cast spells....
