I wanted to be master of Evermeet and ruler of Faerun but that is not my destiny. You have destroyed my armies, revealed my treacheries, and finally you have killed me. Let it be known that even if you are despised by your elvish brethren that you are better than them all. They would have made me King and yet....before you, I am nothing." -Gandorf Durothil's last words
Well my current Forgotten Realms campaign has finally come to an end with the big final showdown on Evermeet. The game was a massive multi-story arc that had the Daemonfae, Kymil Nimesin's Gold Elf Conspiracy, and the Eldreth Veluuthra all linked together by a mammoth conspiracy that was designed to bring its mastermind to the throne of Evermeet. It was an extremely 'elvish' game that I'm quite proud of even as a lot of the central idea was from time memorial (evil manipulator controls outside factions to slowly increase his power). The game ended with the enemy ascending to Lichdom as a last ditch effort to cast a ritual to destroy all of the elves and raise them as undead in his final (and quite insane) hope of controlling the land in some form.
Quite epic huh? Well here's the problem, the players want to continue on still. I don't want to just drop the previous campaign threads and just move on to another location but instead build a storyline about the reprocussions amongst the Elven Race.
In this case, they've been utterly and completely saved by a band of human elf-friends (that the Nimsen family also waged all of their political cloat in framing for the horrible atrocities that were conducted against the elves---and rather unfortunately have since been proven to be lies). The eldest son of the Durothil family in my game has further been proven the blackest traitor. Also, the corruption of the Starym Moonblade has been revealed (with said eldest son wielding it even as a Lich). This is probably less embarrassing than one of the heroes wields a Moonblade and is a half-elf.
(I was perfectly willing to write off the character as an Arilyn Moonblade rip off save as a male but I can't argue he certainly earned his character stripes)
I have some vague character threads to go on with the Durothil Family deciding that they have to do SOMETHING grand to redeem their collective family honor. Also, possibly some wanting revenge even as their pride and joy has been struck down before them. It's even more interesting that Gandorf was struck down by his own half-brother.
There's also the forbidden love angle that I inserted between the now awake first Daughter of Evermeet and said Half-elf Moonblade wielder (Akkanas if you need a name to address him by). Given the Queen's disturbing treatment of her granddaughter Arilyn, I can only imagine the utter venom she might view this issue. There's an angle there to pursue.
(The other players had less emotional involvement in the final confrontation than Akkanas had but their own very emotional story arcs were wrapped up in previous adventures)
Any advice or comments are welcome.

Posted - 01 Apr 2006 : 02:08:00 I recently ran a solo game set on Evermeet. The locale doesn't quite lend itself to hack and slash sort of adventures. One adventure concerned an isolationist Everaer faction which was trying to manipulate the PC's family into ruining the nation's relations with Northern Faerun. The next adventure was a sea battle against sahuigin. If you have the time, you can take a look at the complete adventures here:
