• Powerful Build: The physical stature of half-giants lets them function in many ways as if they were one size category larger. Whenever a half-giant is subject to a size modifier or special size modifier for an opposed check (such as during grapple checks, bull rush attempts, and trip attempts), the half-giant is treated as one size larger if doing so is advantageous to him. A half-giant is also considered to be one size larger when determining whether a creature’s special attacks based on size (such as improved grab or swallow whole) can affect him. A half-giant can use weapons designed for a creature one size larger without penalty. However, his space and reach remain those of a creature of his actual size. The benefits of this racial trait stack with the effects of powers, abilities, and spells that change the subject’s size category.
Does this mean that for example a half-giant can wield a greatsword in one hand? Or does it mean only that he could wield a huge greatsword for example (or that he could wield a large longsword in one hand?)

From what I'd gathered about them, they could use the greatsword as a one handed - that it pushed the size categories for weapons down one (e.g. a bastard sword could be held in one hand as a martial weapon, greatsword in one as an exotic, and huge greatsword in two as martial.) |

Posted - 10 Apr 2006 : 21:26:31 It appears to indicate you can use same sized weapon or a weapon one size greater with the same ease. That medimun and large are treated the same, infering that the half gaint is medimun. That instread of just one sized weapon can be used without penality, that two sizes of weapons can be used without penality. |

My interpertaion is that the Large Greatsword can be weilded is esay as the Medimun Greatsword, both requiring the use of two hands. The template appears to offer the benefit to weild without penality a weapon size that is normally two large for the extra damage.
Not sure I totally understand you there. Are you saying this template allows you to treat each weapon as one size category lower? That you can use weapons normally one size category too large as a size category lower? Or that you can use a larger version of a normal sized weapon as normal? |
