Posted - 06 Dec 2006 : 14:30:43 We house ruled that it still stacks in 3.5ed. We felt that fighter types needed the help at mid to high levels to keep up with spell slingers, and more than a few things are immune to crits at higher CRs.

Posted - 30 Nov 2006 : 16:11:53 well, if you look at the Unapproachable East book you can see there is a slow trickle of Kara-Tur "eastern-ness" entering Faerun, which opens up the door for the OA book...I think it is out-of-print now but if you can find it cheap I'd definately get it...it has some pretty powerful PrCs that convert easily to the Realms..plus all the original oriental classes not watered down in the "complete" book line... |

Posted - 30 Nov 2006 : 16:02:42 Don't own either... and unless I abduct my main group's PCs to Kara Tur I doubt I'll use any of it...there are enough books to read as it is... |

Posted - 30 Nov 2006 : 15:54:45 yep, the Kensai PrC in the D&D 3.0 Oriental Adventure hardcover...it is much more powerful (IMO) than the Complete Warrior version |

Posted - 30 Nov 2006 : 15:47:08 OA was 3.0 or? |

Posted - 30 Nov 2006 : 13:56:33 Take a look at the original Kensai PrC in the OA (not the crappier CF book)...it does stack with the Improved Critical (or at leats that is how I interpreted it) |

Posted - 30 Nov 2006 : 11:49:17 Thankīs God that they donīt stack in the 3.5 edition. But, to the ones that want to have a good chance with his critical hits, we have the Power Critical feat, in the Complete Warrior. |

Posted - 30 Nov 2006 : 10:37:16 or use the armor variant on SRD
Mod edit: Tweaked the URL coding to make it show up correctly. |

Absolutely horrible combination that was. I banned that rule from my game table! Too powerful!
On a side note: Stacking would make sense though - keen ability to acknowledge a sharper blade that is more easily causing critical wounds & Improved Crit Feat as to acknowledge the fighter's progress and how he is able to learn to hit better and 'on the right marks'.
It does make sense, provided such a weapon has the penalty of being unable to cut through heavier armor.
If, for example, a rapier is used in such a way, one would also have to introduce armor differences in terms of resilience to piercing/slashing etc. or you change to damage resistance for armors in addition to AC whereas a magical bonus improves the DR and not the AC:
a +2 chainmail would have a +5 (or so) AC bonus and a DR7/piercing for example...or some such thing. |

Posted - 30 Nov 2006 : 07:57:52 Imagine a low damage high crit weapon...with keen and a wielder having the improved crit feat.
Crits would come 25% of the time |

Posted - 30 Nov 2006 : 02:16:07 Im pretty sure it implicitly says they dont stack in either the Feat description in the PHB or in the Keen ability write up in the 3.5 DMG |
