As part of my current campaign (DR 1367 Year of the Shield), one of the NPC dwarves of Citadel Adbar will soon have a dream.
The PCs will assist in the interpretation of the dream and be assigned to the required task.
In general, the dream is meant to hint at a solution to the dwarf's current problem. The way I see the dream sequence (as reported to the PCs) is to have some sort of animal talk and 'act out' some clues. The end result is the PCs searching for a long-absent dwarven bard/magical lyre.
I can handle the clues and the necessary vagueness.
What I can't seem to come up with is a plausible animal to represent whatever divine (my first choice) or extremely powerful initiator of the dream.
Since it involves a lost bard/instrument, I thought of Finder Wyvernspur, but I'm still not set on the idea. I suppose that Finder's animal avatar would be some sort of saurial.
So does anyone have any good deity/animal choices?
Apologies for the long explanation and many thanks for the assistance. If any are interested, I can also post how things progress.

I'll probably run the adventure this evening.

There are no normal animals connected with the deity, but both sphinxes and feystags are good messengers if you can use a monster. Dumathoin being the deity of secrets under the earth and buried wealth might give them an idea if the instrument is hidden in the earth. Looking over the dwarven pantheon in Demihuman Deities I would say that most of the deities could have an interest in a quest such as this.
Other animals might be ravens, cave lizards, mountain goats (logical for a dwarf) or giant pigs. I know these don't give the right mystical connotations the plot needs, but this is a dwarf after all. Moles, marmots and such are also good alternatives. Maybe a Rothè ? |
