Posted - 04 Aug 2003 : 20:42:33 Okay, here’s what I have so far in part thanks to the great suggestions I've recieved here and on the Realms list.
The big picture: The Arcane Brotherhood is attempting to break the Confederation. Obould is gathering an orc horde that will sweep down through the Marches. the Bro's want this to happen to weaken the Marches. Obould wants the Bro's to break the Confederation to make their war easier so it's a mutually beneficial symbiosis.
Starting off a merchant will attempt the hire the PC's or the PC's will come across a caravan that has been attacked. A goblin warchief has kidnapped a prominent merchants daughter from Everlund and has taken her to a new hideout in the foothills of the Nether Mountains. This "hideout" is actually a wight's crypt and the warchief is losing goblins mysteriously over the past few tendays.
The players will become (hopefully) embroiled in this after finding a note or information from the merchants daughter about a mage that is looking for 4 artifacts in order to cast a mighty spell that will open up gates in several key locations in the Marches releasing several mighty elementals to wreak havoc and sow chaos and blame among the confederacy.
It’s up to the PC's to find the artifacts, discover what their purpose is and/or uncover the plot as to who wants them. Thwart the orc horde somehow, and keep the confederacy together.
No small task for a bunch of level one weenies but this isn't going to happen overnight and they'll grow in power as thier enemies get closer to thier goal.
Edit: Forgot to mention that each artifact represents and element. Earth, Air, Fire, Water. (No its not a "fifth element" scenario :))
Too complicated? Too simple?
Thoughts? Suggestions?

Narfell will be the ancient long gone empire of choice to pick on. Ruins all over the north. Evil priests that were allied with demons would be just the guys to have made and elemental gate spell, I would think. |

You mean elemental? If so then yeah. Maybe flank those elementals with golems.
quote: and just which civilization are these artifacts from? Netherese? Imaskari?
Good question. I have no idea...yet. Add that to the to do list for details to fill in. Thanks!
