It seems being the 'creators' so to speak that Selune should be a greater goddess.
Has anything been written on this?

Posted - 27 Aug 2010 : 17:04:36 I would suspect that it varies based on the time period in question. From 1357 to 1374 she is certainly not as powerful as Shar, but that's not to say she couldn't have the advantages in other times or places (as others mentioned during Netheril or later on). |

Posted - 18 Aug 2010 : 06:31:50 I just read Ed's article in Dragon 54 to get some insight.
It seems that Selune is often beaten by Shar because of the Waning moon (that is when Shar wins, but Selune attacks again during its waxing.)

Posted - 18 Aug 2010 : 06:26:51 If I recall correctly, Selūne was a greater deity during the time of Netheril. After the Fall, she surrendered some of her portfolios to Suné, and mentored her. My supposition is that Suné was her daughter by the Morninglord Lathander and that Selūne receded into the background to let her daughter shine.
Also, Dalor is completely correct about her waxing and waning in power over time. |

Selune gave a great deal of her power in the creation of Mystra it is thought...and her power ebbs and flows as the times go. |
