Okay, I have three copies of Serpent Kingdoms by Ed Greenwood, Eric L. Boyd, and Darrin Dredar. I also have the Vilhon Reach supplement for 2nd edition FR. In fact, I started recruiting for a game based on Yuan-ti.

Question is: have the Yuan-ti spread to other places more temperate than the Vilhon Reach? Can I set a game featuring Yuan-ti in other places besides Hlondeth?

The Serpent Hills, to the southeast of the High Moor.
In Elminster's Ecologies, Appendix 2. And in Perilous Gateways. And, uh, in Serpent Kingdoms.

Well, a bit of an update. I'm setting my game in Najara. I thought that was the best possible place for it.

Its possible. Although i imagine the servitors of a rival nation would be viewed as spies rather than welcomed.

Regardless, the blurb on Okoth (in serpent kingdoms) lists sarrukh, wereserpents, and werecrocodiles in its population. There is no mention of yuan ti.

As always there should be an explanation for that, and the fact that yuan ti were created by a rival nation in Chult is the simplest and therefore probably the most likely explanation for the omission of yuan ti in the population of Okoth.

As the sarrukh were body purists, I do not really see much cooperation between sarrukh nations, and it was probably the reason for the founding of new nations.

Ergo, ancient history wise, yuan ti would not exist in okoth.

More recently however, the yuan ti have explored najara and the satellites of isstosseffifil, so you have a modern yuan ti presence in the sarrukh nation, so it is possible the yuan ti have also exored okoth, but from an ancient historical perspective, the servitor races of the sarrukh would be mostly lizardmen like -lizardmen, tren, troglodytes, with were serpents as well.

Okoth may have been working on yuan ti prototypes, and that is probably what the were serpents represent.

Just because they were separate nations doesn't mean that information didn't flow between them, possibly even against the nation's will (because a nation's will is often outside its own control, and often even conflicting between movers and shakers within the nation). One need only look at IT within any large organization in our world to see how easily stuff can go wrong, information get out of the control of people who were trying to keep it secure internally, or information get transferred to a competitive organization.

I managed to get two hardback copies of Serpent Kingdoms earlier. One from my then girlfriend and another from buying a copy at a hobby store. I then purchased a .pdf copy sometime later.

Serpent Kingdoms certainly covers all the known yuan-ti "nations," but the Realms are massive and you can certainly create other locations. However, known locations include Skullport and have the nation of Najara, both north of Hlondeth and covered to various degrees in Serpent Kingdoms already.

As a side note, Ed's original Old Empires region was snake based (more Conan-esque). I like to think it was that way prior to the invasion of the Mulhorandi and Untheric peoples and so you can find lots of really ancient yuan-ti and snakey things that very few folks have any idea how they got there.

Ah, I just wanted a place to set my Yuan-ti campaign. Somewhere else besides the Vilhon Reach. The Old Empires region might be perfect. So are Najara and Skullport.

Yuan ti exist in Kara Tur in the jungles of the southern lands.

However, i do not believe they spread from Faerun, they were instead recreated via magic rituals and controlled breeding.
