I'm so pleased to be working with Ed to create new setting guides and adventures set in the Forgotten Realms. We've got an amazing team of FR sages working on it with us, including multiple Brians, several Erics, and at least one Tom. Here's Ed's announcement with more details.

quote:

My friends, fellow wanderers of the Realms,

You’ve journeyed with me through many corners of Faerūn over the years, and today, it brings me tremendous joy to announce something truly special. Our next great adventure: RealmsBound, a brand-new Forgotten Realms project launching on the Dungeon Masters Guild in Q1 of 2026!

In partnership with the wonderful folks at Mythmakers, RealmsBound is a new saga within the Forgotten Realms; a series of interconnected releases that explore beloved lands in greater depth than ever before.

Our first destination: The Dalelands.

The debut volume, Guide to the Dalelands, expands upon the foundations laid in Adventures in Faerūn and Heroes of Faerūn, exploring each Dale in extraordinary detail. Our full slate of releases for 2026 includes:

• Guide to the Dalelands
• Inn Sites of the Dalelands
• Delves of the Dalelands
• Adventures in the Dalelands

My creative partner on this project is Mythmakers Studio, led by Eric Menge, who will be serving as Creative Director. Many of you will recognize Eric’s name from his decades of work in the industry; his passion and meticulous attention to lore make him the perfect steward of this journey.

The writing team features both familiar Realms voices who have authored many tomes in the past, and rising stars in the design community, each bringing their own spark to this grand endeavor.

And best of all, this is just the beginning. RealmsBound will explore a new region each year, gradually expanding the world and revealing new stories about the lands and legends of Faerūn.

You can learn more by wandering over to RealmsBound.com and subscribing to our mailing list for exclusive previews, updates, and behind-the-scenes insights.
So gather your party and pack your gear, friends.

The journey begins soon.

Ed Greenwood

I’m with you on hoping for hardcover releases and a tone closer to the older pre-2024 products, with grittier art and classic races like orcs and half-orcs in focus. Dalelands and all those other Forgotten Realms regions you mentioned have so much potential

I played a lot The Dark Eye RPG from Germany. What I like most here are the Regional Books of Aventuria, with very deep dive lore of each region (fluff only). And now I hear that something similar will happen with my beloved Forgotten Realms. I am hyped. Hope there will be Hardcover available, I will buy them all. The only wish I have is, that the tone and look & feel is more oriented to older pre 2024 WotC products. Would really like to see evil orcs, playable half-orcs, much less tieflings and dragonborns. And maybe a second minor wish to the artwork - less comicstyle more serious, I also love the black/white pencil drawings from the 2E.

Dalelands sounds great. I remember back the stories of the Knights of Myth Drannor or the Adventures with Randal Morn. It would be so excited if there are new heroes similar to the older ones. There are so many regions where I would like to see more lore, like Moonsea, Vaasa & Damara, Dragon Coast, Amn, Cormyr (without the Amethyst Dragons) and Sembia.

When there will be a first preview of the Q1 book?

Instant buy as well- I hope the Moonsea region is next up?

Edit - any chance of enlisting Jeff Grubb? God that man gets the Realms so well (along with Elaine Cunningham)

We're in touch with DM's Guild about having them be available Print on Demand. We've already got our layout editor approved. I'm very hopeful that we can make this happen.

Brian Cortijo has joined the team. I'm working on Eric Boyd now.

Agreed, instant buy. If it's offered as a bound real editions I'll likely buy that too. Great Realms designers working together I'm sure the product will be awesome.

Ed has already made a few suggestions for where we should head next. The Dalelands is just the start!

This is awesome to hear. Definite instant buy for me. The Dalelands is an awesome setting. Certainly look forward to it. And the prospect that there might be new regional books each year is amazing.
