Posted - 29 Oct 2004 : 18:00:49 In the original Monster Manual, Demogorgon has 200 HP (Asmodeus has 199, Orcus 120), -8 AC, 95% magic resistance, +2 or better weapon to hit, and can cause hypnosis, beguiling, or insanity with his gaze(s), energy drain with his tail, rot with his tentacles, and can use all sorts of spells.
The v.3.0 Book of Vile Darkness writeup is more or less a direct conversion of such - however, he doesn't come across as powerful as he should (relatively speaking), espically with the upgrade to demons in v.3.5.
This is the best writeup I've ever seen for Demogorgon. Very powerful (as the Prince of Demons should be), and the flavour and description are also top-notch. Truly a terrifying creature. |

Posted - 15 Oct 2004 : 08:11:20 I've got a Monster Manual 1- i think for AD&D & he's in there It's a big book (the way books should be) but it still has bacis info
I've never heard of any cults for Demogorgon & Asmodeus- but my knowledge isn't that extensive, so sorry I can't help |

Posted - 15 Oct 2004 : 00:02:18 The information about the major demons of the Abyss can be found in the Book of Vile Darkness.
BTW, does anyone know of any existing cults to like Demogorgon or to Asmodeus on Faerun? It's because there seemed to be quite a lot of these evil cults devoted to archdevils and prince of demons in BoVD. |

He was in Baldur's Gate 2 Shadow of Amn & Throne of Bhaal. He was the evil in the Watcher Keep, they called him the Imprisoned One. I've had a quick look over my books (they're rather messy so if I find any more info- I'll let you know)
Demogorgon- 290 HP -12AC -8 THAC0 5 Attacks 36,000 exp can only be hit with +4 weapons, is immune to Time Stop, can poison characters, cast repeated protection spells & summons minions to prevent as much damage going to him as possible & he's the prince of demons
Hope that helps a little |

I thought they were, but it's going to be more than a few hours before I can get home and check.
No need to check about the Ranger's Three. They ARE in Heroes Lorebook near the back. :) |

Thanks so far for all the help you provided me.
I checked it myself, the most known epic NPC's (like elminster/symbol/storm/Ssam etc... are in the epic lvl handbook) But a lot of interesting people from the realms are missing(Shar from the pools triology/Sharantyr,Itharr,Belkram from the shadows of avatar/Arylin and Danilo Thrann from various books of the Harpers/all seven sisters(even the undead Sylune has some powers(damm i like that ghost).
That's likely because most of those characters are not epic, and were detailed in various 2E sources. The Seven Sisters were detailed in the book by the same name, and Arilyn and Danilo were both covered in Code of the Harpers. |

Not that the stats are any good...waaaay underpowered. |

Elminster: the Elminster books, by Ed Greenwood. Rules-wise, I think he was in either the FRCS or the Epic Handbook (I'm at work, so I can't check)
Both. Depending upon the setup of your campaign, either may be appropriate. If it's 3.5 or using the epic levels system presented therein, you're looking for the ELH. The FRCS one should work well for normal campaigns.
quote: Additionally, the Seven Sisters were nicely detailed in the 2E source of the same name. I think the Simbul was statted out for 3E in the Epic Handbook, as well.
The Simbul, Alustriel, and Storm were covered in the FRCS. All three of them were again covered in the ELH.(Remember, Wooly, there's a Level between Epic and Handbook).
quote: Khelben Arunsun also appears in the Songs & Swords books. Of the top of my head, I'm not recalling him being fully statted out anywhere except maybe for Realmspace...
Again, the FRCS or the ELH.
quote: Sammaster was detailed in the 2E sourcebook Cult of the Dragon. The novel The Rage may prove interesting for info on Sammy, too.
Stats in the FRCS, also.
quote: Manshoon is statted out in the FRCS, and appears in Shandril's Saga. Some interesting developments with him and his clones, the Manshoon Wars, are detailed in the 2E source Cloak & Dagger.
And again, updated in the ELH. |

Posted - 04 Oct 2004 : 23:15:45 FRCS has some sort of stats for Elminster, Storm, Simbul, Alustriel, Khelben, and Manshoon. Those are pre-ELH, though. |

The Seven Sisters: All of them were in Silverfall, also by Ed Greenwood. Laeral also appears in the Songs & Swords books by Elaine Cunningham, and Alustriel has a couple brief appearances in the Icewind Dale trilogy.
Additionally, the Seven Sisters were nicely detailed in the 2E source of the same name. I think the Simbul was statted out for 3E in the Epic Handbook, as well.

Vangy was in the Cormyr trilogy, and also in Crusade. I know he's been statted out, but I'm not recalling what sources.
Manshoon is statted out in the FRCS, and appears in Shandril's Saga. Some interesting developments with him and his clones, the Manshoon Wars, are detailed in the 2E source Cloak & Dagger.
Demogorgon... I don't know of any Realms appearances by him.
BTW, welcome to Candlekeep! |

Posted - 04 Oct 2004 : 22:31:52 Seven Sisters can be found in the book of the same name. Or Heroes Lorebook. El had a make over in 3e so his appearance changed so any of the 2e material is obsolute. For Khelben, try Heroes Lorebook as well. I think Vangy is in that book as well, but he had a MAJOR make over in Elminster's Daughter.
For Manshoon, try the Zhentil Keep box set or Villian's Lorebook, which is free on the WOTC web site. Sammaster should be described in Cult of the Dragon.
The demons and devils try the Book of Vile Darkness. |
