I was wondering why there are not many wars between nations. But I never understood why Tehtyr and Calimsham, two very large nations, weren't fighting. They should be.
But Calimshan didn't attack Tethyr while they were infested by mosters and unable to form a central power to rule Tethyr.
But Calimshan had inccredible influence over Tethyr esp in Zazespur and Myratma for a long time. And during that time Tethyr was no threat for Calimshan but things changed.

Tethyr is going to be a second Cormyr with more population and resources and silvermarches united. Good is reigning and Calimshan's corrupt politics are in danger. And I think it is time for a great and innevitable war between Calimshan and Tethyr.

Waterdeep and the other northern cities are wary of a war between shaguins, Amn has lost MUrann to invading humanoids. Tethyr is growing and Calishan has a very chaleniging rival. Amn wants Raitavin back and maybe more and Tethyr has lost Kzelter.

It is time to change the borders. What do the scribes of mighty Candlekeep say about that issue?

I see, that makes sense. I can imagine a plot that will just fit to my campaign.
Thanks for the idea, DDH_101.

Forlorn, there are no exactly numbers for the monster army because I don't even think the leaders of the army even know. Lol. The army is controlled by a pair of powerful ogre mages and the troops they lead are basically the usually monsters we read about: goblins, orcs, kobolds, ogres, maybe throw in a couple of giants.

THe army conquering Amn? I don't think so. The Amnish army isn't really trying to destroy them, as the Council of Six knows that it would prove to be a costly war, in both coin and lives. They are probably trying to hold off the monsters until they disband or fight among themselves. After all, what army of monsters have we known that could keep themselves together without fighting?

Are there any information about the monsters in Murann?
1-How many live there? Are they all ready for combat?
2-which races are dominant and which ones are sidekicks in the show? 3-where did they come from, how were they united?
4-Are there any trade going on in the city except the pirate shipments?
5- Do they have any possible purpose to conquer more land of Amn or Velen? Are they active in the Wealdath?

1) no clue, but could be theoretically figured out based on population figures

2) Tethyr: there might be some long lost claimants to the royal line, but they are no serious threat for now. Calimshan: all those one step lower on the foodchain then the Syl-Pasha himself.

3) See Lands of Intrigue (used to be a free download on WotC site) and Empires of the Shining Sea for the Twisted Rune and plot ideas

4) In the short term, probably not. Murann is defensible enough with the monsters having the harbor secured through the aid of pirates. The biggest danger for the monsters would be internal strife - they are aligned with the church of Cyric after all...

Yeah you are right but I m not capable of understanding how two powerful nations don't fight with each other looking to our world's history. So I assume that there will be a war between Tethyr and Calimshan in my campaign. And I have some questions about those countries and that was what this topic about.

1- Does anyone know how large the armies of Tethyr and Calimshan?, if one knows please state it.
2- Are there any rival known to the throne of both nations?
3- Are there any rumours about the latest agendas of Twisted fune and Knights of the shield?
4- Do you think that Amn is capable to rid the mosters invaded Murann?

Forlorn, that's where spies and assassins come into play. Not all wars are fought on the battlefield with thousands of men on each side. Calimshan probably have agents in Tethyr spying on nobles and undermining their economy and military power. Tethyr also has these agents planted in Calimshan and in their own nation to find enemy spies.

Of courese wars are costly but that's the thing I stuck. In our history there are war nearly without reasons esp in medieval time and don't forget 2. world war but even in our modern time economical reasons or so called other reasons cause many wars like USA v Iraq Serbian civil war or Vietnam. I m not arguing those issues please don't reply to those.
I m just saying that war is a part of civilizations, all of them. If Tethyr grows they will reduce Calimshans' profit for Tethyr is less corrupt. And furthermore Myratma is more like Calimshan than it is like Tethyr and it is a very important port. And what is the guarentee that Tethyr won't attack to Calimshan when they are grow.

That's the way it should be. The enemies are not just goblins or orcs also political stupidities create enemies where there are no evil. TSR seems to dissapear those facts. War is a part of human greed and in every realm there it will be.

Forlorn, it's because wars are COSTLY. I mean, to us it's just a game, where you point and click with your mouse on a battalion and have them assault the gate, even though you know they would die.

Population doesn't just increase magically and there's no barrack that keeps popping out soldiers as long as you got cash. Most of the other nations have seen what happened to Cormyr and Amn, and now they are probably more worried about third parties than other nations. Also, war is hard on commerce. If a war is happening between Calimshan and Tethyr, not many people are still going to bother to have their caravans or ships go to any of these two nations for fear of attacks.

Besides, the Northern realms all are wary of the Shadow Enclave plus the daemonfey army that is wreaking havoc right now. They don't have time to fight each other with all these monsters.
