Bane, Bhaal and Myrkul were three mortals who became gods by absorbing parts of Jergal's portfolio, right?

But when? When did this happen?

I'd imagine it is around that vague period after the Fall of Netheril and the Dawn Cataclysm

There's no specific date for the ascension of Bane, Bhaal and Myrkul. However, an entry in Lands of Intrigue, concerning the worship of Bane and Myrkul around -88 DR suggests the ascension occured sometime before that point.

For more, see Bane's entry in Faiths & Avatars.

There's also a few more details in the section for Borem's dagger in Faith & Pantheons.

It's cool. I somehow suspected there wouldn't be a clear answer. Maybe I'll pose the question to Ed...

I don't think this has been stated anywhere.

I seem to remember Jergal staying in power throughout the history of Netheril, but I am not sure. There is also the possibility of this story being mythological, as it was in legend form in Powers and pantheons; the three dark powers could therefore be outside powers that supplanted Jergal. I know I am not helping much here, but I don't believe there is a clear answer to your question.
