I just finished The Swords of Eveningstar and had a couple of questions.
What is a highknight and how is it different from regular knights? Are Purple Dragons simply men-at-arms and are called Purple Dragons because of the banner they fight under? Are knights nobles, what I mean is do they have to have land similar to a feudal knights in the medieval age? |

Highknights are a special order of knights that can best be thought of as a cross between James Bond and the most trusted personal royal bodyguards.
Purple Dragons are the enlisted soldiers of Cormyr, and can be anything from impressed militia to lifetime professional soldiers ("Blue Dragons" are the naval equivalents).
Some knights have land, most do not (unless they've bought or inherited it themselves, not through their title), unless they're hereditary knights ("baronets" in English real-life parlance).
