I just started posting straight away, without a proper introduction, this might be considered a bit rude

As you can see I'm new to the site and this forum. I've just started in my first FR campaign, in which I play a moonelven rogue (Almaedra Evenfall), and all I want to do is read, read and then read some more about the Realms, there is soo much interesting material around!

I've been playing D&D (3ed) for more than three years now and Almaedra is my third character, aside from Aeriden Raven a ninth level human rogue (yeah I know, everybody is always so attached to their first character ever that they drag the nickname with them, wherever they go ) and Livyan Elrolas Rahl, the eighth level CE half elven warlock. Unfortunately I am no longer in the two campaigns mentioned above.

Ok, this piece is already much longer than I wanted it to be, so this will be it for now.

Well, meet their goddess, Shadowlord. I would just like to give you a few words of advice. It would not be wise to anger me, unless you wish to feel my wrath. For I shall protect my children, and you shall learn a valuable lesson.

Welcome, Naroon, to the great library of infinite knowledge.
Alaundo is quite correct. Everyone here is quite helpful and friendly.

Read, read and read: a commendable attitude! And certainly fitting here in the halls of Candlekeep.
An oft-overlooked resource for Realmslore is Dragon magazine. Specifically, I mean the "first 250 issues of Dragon" collection on CD-ROM. One day I went looking with the inbuilt search engine using terms such as “Greenwood”, “Realms”, “Faerun”, “Waterdeep” and so on. What I got wasn’t earth-shaking in and of itself, but still a bunch of interesting articles and snippets of information that often has gotten “lost” in modern Realms works like the Campaign Setting. Over time I’ve printed out most of those articles. I keep them together with all kinds of Realms info in a sturdy office folder.
Albeit but trivia, it’s always nice to have reams of information on your favorite game setting lying around; both as a DM and as a player.

Hope this tip is worth something to you.

Well, these forums are starting to pick up again.

Welcome, everyone, to these walls of infinite knowledge.

And a special "welcome back" to Drummer Boy, who appeared to have been gone for a while.

Welcome and well met, both newcomers to the realms of Candlekeep.
Here, you will find information on the realms and DMs of the world, and please feel free to ask any questions to any of the scribes. I, myself, a Dungeon Master, feel full pledged to answer any of your frees, so please ask as much as you want before my very own ears.
Yours

Welcome to you all. No need to use the same topic to introduce yourselves, though there's no harm in it.

I must say, it's good to see some new faces.

I never did an introduction for myself, either. I just sort of . . . showed up, moved in, that sort of thing. As you can see, I seem to have made it this far without angering the Powers That Scribe.

Don't let my post count fool you -- I'm just talkative. Really, if you look around, you'll see that I have been, and still am, much in the same boat as you are. It was only after joining up that I became re-obsessed with the Realms, and more than that, in actually gaming. I only bought my Player's Handbook in April. (Or so -- I forget exactly. Hey, when you're a dragon, all the months sort of run together. )

I've only had one, or at least one with a background and game stats. (Some PCs I made while playing around with these systems, but no backgrounds; and two FR characters, and two special-world-D&D, that are for two fanfics.)

I doubt I'll be much attatched to the name, though. It actually has meaning: my character took the name Janis for a surname (from the Roman two-faced god, whose name became the basis for the month January) because he is half-elven; he's very much a loner. As for his first name, that's more of a joke. It's Kevin. (I spend so much time, it seems, thinking up new names for my many stories, getting them to sound just right, that I decided to poke some fun at myself.)

Same here. Well, for the first part. As for the second -- well, I'm going to go terrorize some other scrolls.

Hi all! Another newbie here I'm not that familiar with the Realms but I've picked up stuff (books, computer games, magazine articles) over the years and enjoyed some of it so I'm nosing around.
