Posted - 12 Feb 2009 : 22:24:17 Hi there!
I was looking for some answers concerning the Drizzt books and stumbeled along to this here fine place. Having being a fan of FR ever since I read the Elminster series I could not help myself thinking how I have not come across this site here before. Wierd.
Anyhows! Here I am and greetings to the lot of you!
I've just read "The Dark Elf Trilogy" and I loved the series so much that I decided to go and order everything about Drizzt ever written, but amazon.co.uk was a complete and utter mess when trying to figure out the chronological order of the Do'Urden books. But fear not! I quickly, after poking around here a bit, found the answer to my worries, namely Salvatore's official site (http://www.rasalvatore.com/).
I enjoy reading fiction and fantasy, but I must admint that I'm still quite fresh as Forgotten Realms' books go. What I have read so far is thusly: (In order of first read first)
Elminster: The Making of a Mage (1994) Elminster In Myth Drannor (1997) The Temptation of Elminster (1998) Elminster In Hell (2001) Elminster's Daughter (2004)
Homeland (1990) Exile (1990) Sojourn (1991)
(I'm soon to read all of the Drizzt books)
I must say that my love for the Sage of Shadowdale, Elminster, is still my nr. 1 FR character, but Drizzt is closing in on that position, and with lightning speed.
I hope my inane ramblings have not bored you all too much. I will look foreward to discuss FR books, lore, and many other things with you.
Sincerely,
Kvothe. |

Posted - 12 Feb 2009 : 23:07:53 Greetings to you Kvothe, and welcome to Candlekeep.
Here you will find many curious questions pertaining to the extensive Realmslore of the FR setting. As well, you will also discover many fantastic answers -- some of which have even been generously provided by the Great Sages of the Realms themselves.
So please, take a look around. If you feel the need to ask a question, or to merely discuss some element of the Realmslore, then simply find the appropriate place or shelf within the library and open a scroll. One of our many knowledgeable scribes, the dedicated staff of Candlekeep, or even a visitor to these halls, will always be happy to assist you in learning more about the Realms.
See you in the library.

Feel free to ask any questions you may have... A lot of us have been Realms fans for years, and we know a thing or three about the setting. Plus, we've got some of the authors and creators here!
As for the rest of us, we are friendly, mostly harmless, and occasionally strange... Enjoy your stay! |
