So nice to find a like minded group.

I have been a DM for 10-12 years now and have used the FR setting almost exclusively. Cudos to Ed for providing me such a well constructed world for me and my friends to rampage through.

Was just wondering, I have been hounded by my friends and family for years to write a book based on our games. What copywrite/legal issues do I need to address before putting pen to paper(or finger to keyboard)?

Mostly I ask this because I have a particular campaign that we ran in mind, however the beginning of the campaign featured a familiar grumpy old wizard in Shadowdale(he assembled the party and put them on the path). I just don't want to make him angry(left my fire resistance ring in my other pants).

Thanks in advance

Take a shot, by all means. IŽve done things like that before and it can be a great mememnto for the players, if nothing else.

And be welcome, of course...IŽll be over in that cave again...

Thank you all,

While I agree that the two are usually exclusive, I would like to take a shot at it. I will just write it out as it was played, mostly for the benefit of the group that actually wrote(see also lived)the story. If I can get something halfway coherent and reasonably literate I will be sure to share it with you guys.

Welcome from the local grump as well

As for writing about a campaign...it can work, but the dynamics of an RPG and what should happen in a novel are most of the time two completely different animal.

As for the rest of us, we are friendly, mostly harmless, and occasionally strange... Enjoy your stay!

Thanks, I should fit right in...I'm usually friendly, mostly strange and often harmless. And occasionally incoherent.

Welcome to Candlekeep!

Feel free to ask any questions you may have... A lot of us have been Realms fans for years, and we know a thing or three about the setting. Plus, we've got some of the authors and creators here!

As for the rest of us, we are friendly, mostly harmless, and occasionally strange... Enjoy your stay!
