hello everybody, I'm an fairly old fan of the Forgotten Realms DND setting, but I've never played a P&P campaign, I'm too immersed in the detail and visuals of video games. I first gained interest in this setting with the release of Baldur's Gate in 1998, suffice to say I was hooked from then on. I have purchased pretty much every Forgotten Realms title released as a video game and I very much support the prolonged existence and popularity of this setting. I have only recently become interested in specific realmslore and the ilk, but I haven't the time to seek out piles of old novels and guides so I turn to the internet. So, here I am, I'll see you around on the forums.

As someone who put in a lot of work on the Compendiums, I appreciate the praise!

Thanks for the warm welcomes, I've been looking around and I've got a pretty good idea of what to expect. It should be noted that I downloaded all of the Candlekeep Compendiums, you guys have done your work well! I felt like I was reading volumes from Volo or Elminster's journals, very authentic! I couldn't stop reading for a good hour or two, I especially liked the accounts of journeys to the lower planes and other deity's planes, very interesting stuff. I've been scouring the net for such material and could never find anything like it (without purchasing tons of dusty old books from amazon).

Welcome to Candlekeep!

Feel free to ask any questions you may have... A lot of us have been Realms fans for years, and we know a thing or three about the setting. Plus, we've got some of the authors and creators here!

As for the rest of us, we are friendly, mostly harmless, and occasionally strange... Enjoy your stay!

Welcome slayer! You're most welcome here at Candlekeep. I myself am a long-time fan of the Realms, but a relative noob here at the Keep.

You will find a LOT of info related to the Realms here. The best place on the net IMO. So I think you have made a very good choice in joining us at Candlekeep.com. You will find a number of people here who are well versed in Realms lore and DnD mechanics. Don't hestitate to ask questions and offer your opinions. Wooly and Sage are the moderators and are just two of the experts I mentioned. I'm sure they will agree when I say, that they and the rest of us are happy to answer your questions and give you ideas or food for thought.

So explore my friend! The Realms are a wonder to behold.

EDIT: Silly me I forgot to say that Ed Greenwood (creator of the Realms) and many of the authors post here too!
