Posted - 08 Oct 2005 : 02:15:51 I voted for Unearthed Arcana because that is the book the reminded us that the game was ours to modify, and that a few changes could result in a much more heroic and cinematic experience.
The second one would have been the Book of Vile Darkness because, in the same vein as the previous book, it reminded me that we could explore some more serious matters and that the worst evil is what makes good heroes shine. |

Posted - 07 Oct 2005 : 09:38:32 It depends upon what I'm doing-most of them have been useful at one point or another, and there are only 2 on that list I don't own. |

Posted - 07 Oct 2005 : 07:47:03 I chose Unearthed Arcana as it was the most useful for me by far. Book of Vile Darkness was interesting and fun to read, but not entirely useful. And I was disappointed with Oriental Adventures. Good concept, but it just didn't seem to work out well. |

Posted - 30 Sep 2005 : 17:30:27 I think that it really depends on the game I am running. I have used a lot of the Oriental Adventures material. I have also used the Races of books quite a bit, too. I can, however, tell you that the book listed that I have used least of all is Savage Species. I have no PC that ever wants to be a monster, especially a monster with levels in a heroic class.

Ah, for really nasty DMs BoVD may well be the most useful of those books
So I voted for it, since I have employed many of its vile & nasty suprises on my hapless PCs, and I have also used it as a player for evil characters. Not to mention that it is well thought out and well written. |

Toss up between Savage Species and Complete Warrior. Complete warrior has seen a lot more use, but I loved the Savage Species.
I forgot about Savage Species, that gets tons of use in my campaign. There's just something players like about creating characters from monstrous races. Also, Complete Adventurer has been seeing a lot of use since it came out. |

Savage Species is indeed very cool, but it has tonnes of information that I will never use. However it is fun to read |

Posted - 01 May 2005 : 00:32:03 Epic Level Handbook. It's a very cool books, despite its many, many flaws. I've always wanted to DM really powerful characters, but AD&D and my homebrewed setting never got it right for me. With FR and the ELH I've been able break some personal boundries as far as plots are concerned. Defeated ultra-balors? Yup. Raided a drow city? Goes without saying. Saved a god? Check. Saved the world? Twice.
I believe the Complete Warrior (and possibly Complete Arcane, if someone in my group buys it) will become the most useful accessory in the future. The old splatbooks was never a big hit with the guys (WOTC mixed to much fluff in the crunch, I like gaming books pure crunch or pure fluff), but the new ones seems much better. |

Posted - 26 Apr 2005 : 19:30:20 BoVD and CW, but since I could only choose one, I went for BoVD. The content is so cool and gives plenty of useful information for DMs. I sent a mortal hunter to chase my players during an entire quest once...man, I had the time of my life!!! |

Posted - 10 Dec 2004 : 00:57:54 Arg... this is a very... difficult decision to make... though all and all I'd have to probably say the Complete Warrior... helps in all combat situations and gives everyone the edge they need to snap a few more necks in battle before running away screaming. |

Posted - 09 Dec 2004 : 01:33:22 While the BoVD and the BoED are interesting, most of the fluff material they contain can be found in other 2e tomes. So, while I was at first inclined to select one of those tomes, my selection eventually moved to the Expanded Psionics Handbook.
No matter the setting, and no matter the characters, I've always found some opportunity in nearly every campaign that I've ran since its release in April, to use this book at my gaming table. So much so in fact, that in my house, it's jokingly referred to as "Core Rulebook IV"...

Posted - 08 Dec 2004 : 14:20:58 As a player whose characters usually have at least one level of fighter, and a DM who runs for a group of hack-n-slashers, the Complete Warrior is the best accessory yet. Unearthed arcana is second, followed by Races of Stone, BOVD, and BOED. I find that the BOVD gives me an extra edge when making an evil caster for the group to encounter, the spells are especially nasty. It never fails to impress a group when their meat shield's hand rips itself off of its stump and attacks him. It brings a tear to my eye just thinking about it. By the way, the Dervish prestige class in CW is incredibly cool, if you haven't looked at it closely, I suggest it. I played one, and it was a blast. |
