Posted - 07 Feb 2007 : 12:39:37 For a while now we here at Candlekeep have been trying to find some books for a "classic" book club, some book club threads focusing on books that have already been released. The initial book we tried this with didn't seem to generate as much interest as we had hoped, but we are still interested in the concept.
This year sees the release of the Sembia series, this time titled, "Sembia: Gateway to the Realms." It seems that this was both a popular series, and one that has ties to current goings on in Realms fiction. Finally, it does seem that a few of our scribes may have missed out on this series the first time around.
So we are starting this poll to see what the level of interest and participation in a classic book club featuring the Sembia books would generate. As always, thank you for your participation in Candlekeep, and we look forward to your responses. |

Posted - 17 Feb 2007 : 15:56:01 The first reprint is out, and there seems to be at least some interest, so I'll be posting the threads. Feel free to post when you get the chance, and thanks for participating. |

Posted - 16 Feb 2007 : 18:00:11 I would like to join the book club if the invitation is still there. I read these books a while ago though.
Thanks |

Posted - 09 Feb 2007 : 23:05:16 I read them all...but the last one I read over a year ago, now, and over time I forget little details. However, I remember general things about the characters, and I'll pop by if "something interesting comes up". |

Posted - 09 Feb 2007 : 05:58:33 I will try to get a copy but somehow in my area FR books are somewhat hard to get. The libary system may have it if not then onto barnes and noble i doubt they have it since it is an old book. |

Oh heck, Jorkens, if I worried about NOT making my posts into long winded, boring essays, I'd almost never post!
And still you have managed to hide those boring posts out of view here in the forums as I have not seen them . No, what I mean is that I would have to use the better part of a day to write something useful about a book or even a chapter, ending up rambling away with a combination of analysis and whimsy, loosing my own threads and points at every corner if I was not careful. Could be fun for me, but not very interesting to most people.
Therefore I might have some shorter comments at times, but not really any detailed opinions about the chapters themselves. |

Posted - 07 Feb 2007 : 12:50:54 I read the Sembia books a year or two ago. Unfortunately I am not much of a book club person, as I have both a bad memory for details and difficulty in putting into words opinions about books without it becoming a long, boring essay. I will follow the discussion though and comment if I have anything useful to add. |
