Posted - 29 Jun 2007 : 03:24:15 I've never really liked sahuagin... But I do like malenti. While this tale did a great job of being a sahuagin creation myth, I prefer the malenti aspect of it.
Oh, and I love wemics, so it's nice to see them get some love. |

Posted - 29 Jun 2007 : 01:26:33 I don't know why, but from my earliest days gaming I have loved sahuagin. For some reason, I took every description of these guys and their reputations to heart, probably not the least reason being that their were rumored to have been created by the drow.
On top of that, ever since I read Evermeet I've liked Ka'Narlist as the sort of ancient elven boogeyman/embodiment of everything wrong with the Illythiiri, the biggest advertisement for why the drow were cast down.
So tying both of these things together in a story was absolutely great, not to mention the explanation for the old 2nd edition lore about sea elves and their lack of magical ability.
As far as myths go, this was definately lived up the the "legend" surrounding its subject matter (and for some reason I like that a wemic was involved, if only because its these strange elements that make the Realms feel more "real," because who would have ever thrown a wemic into a sahuagin orign story).
I'm so glad WOTC republished these stories. |
