Many early AD&D (1E) modules were shrink-wrapped, although they were "old" even in the 2E-era and again might have been wrapped by my local merchant NPC.

Well, all of the Monstrous Compendium's were shrinked, along with all boxed sets, and all the supplements (ie FR series, Dark Sun supplements, etc). Actually, I would argue that there was very little that wasn't shrinked in 2E (just book sized/formatted that didn't contain maps).

By my reckoning the last of the boxed sets was Steven Schend's "Empires of the Shining Sea" published in August 1998 while the last adventure was likely his "Wyrmskull Throne" one in 1999 or R A Salvatore's "The Accursed Tower" in that same year also. After those, I can't recall any shrink-wrapped products.
