Most Learned Sages,

I would like info on the marvelous team of (I Believe) Kate Novak and Jeff Grubb? Methinks they were the authors of the Alias of the Azure Bonds series of novels. Where are they? Are they going to write another novel? Do they still write together? Any info would be appreciated. Alias appeared in the comics, she was a troubleshooter for Elminster I believe... What has she been up to lately?

And by the way, Tymora's Luck was an awesome book. After reading a whole pile of newer FR novels, I'm going "old school" and I have just started reading Finder's Bane, which has been sitting in my closet (unread) for far too long.

They're both great fun. And people wonder why I name who I name as my favorite FR deity of all time.

I just picked up several paperbacks that I missed the first time around for .99 a piece plus fairly minimal shipping. None of them were in great shape, but considering I just wanted to read them so as to add their distictiveness to my Realmslore, it wasn't a bad deal.

Though it's far from reliable, I'd still recommend eBay. Most sellers post descriptions of their products, and/or show pictures. I've acquired many Realms products, including novels, from eBay.

I admit I didn't even know about the Realms when those books came out (gasp!)--same goes for a lot of the old Harpers books, and other out of print material. Makes me a bit sorry, sometimes, that I got into the FR relatively late in the game (about 6 years ago).

True, and sometimes the price is higher than you'd normally have to pay for a standard novel; at least that's what I found when I thought of buying Ring of Winter (the asking price was about $11! And no, it wasn't in mint condition). I'd rather look around more before paying such a price.

I`ve read Finder`s Bane, but I`ve been unable to find Tymora`s Luck ANYWHERE!!!

It is hard to find. I find the book by getting lucky a few years back--I saw it in a Borders and grabbed it when I had the chance.

You can probably get it online though, even if it's out of print.

I believe she's in the Lost Vale with the saurials...

I trust you've read the novel Masquerades? It's an Alias and Dragonbait tale, set as a sequel to the original trilogy.

Kate Novak and Jeff Grubb also wrote two books of the Lost Gods trilogy, Finder's Bane and Tymora's Luck. Only one character from the original trilogy appears as a major character in these novels (I'll not say who; it's a bit of a spoiler), but in the latter novel, we do get glimpses of some of their other characters, particularly the Wyvernspurs. Oh, and another of the characters was originally intro'ed in the Forgotten Realms comic before joining the Spelljammer comic; it's not the first time they've put a comic character into regular print.

If you've not read those books, you needn't worry about the second book of the trilogy. It's actually a Dragonlance novel, and all it does for the last book is introduce a single character. You can easily read the other two books without reading the second one, and not miss a thing. If I remember correctly, book 3 only has one reference to book 2 -- and it's in the ramblings of a kender.

Eric L. Boyd and Thomas M. Costa made an excellent Alias Vessel Template that you can use to stat out Alias's many "sisters". It can be found in the Realms Bestiary, Volume 1.
