Ok that LAST battle in IWDII is IMPOSSIBLE. I tried it 20 times and nearly won 5 times, but with only one character intact. I beat IWDII but only because I found the cheats and used the cheat codes (I wanted to know the end of the story:)

Has anyone been able to beat the last bosses of Ice wind dale II legally??????

Tell me what you did, I still want to try it.

Hmm, what a coincidence, I also had a paladin and a dwarf warrior with a 20 CON and 80,000,000,000,000 hit points. I guess those are standard PCs for an IwD II group.

I don't know that you necessarily need a monk. They are pretty studly, though.

A little off topic, but sometimes I'd send my rogue and monk off alone, hiding and sneaking, they'd whack a group of monsters as much as they could then run away. The pursuing monsters chased them and would run smack into the rest of the party. It was a pretty good strategy a lot of the time. That's no help for the boss battle, I know.

I must of tried to beat Melissan at least 20 times. She was a PAIN.

But these TWINS!!!! I HATE THEM. It has been OVER 20 times now. I finished the story at least, with the cheat codes.

Grrr I have no monk, and that MAY be reason, but who knows. My paladin gets shredded, and so does my DWARF with lvl 15 max hitpoints.

And yes, I would love to hear the backwards French Canadian version of the Canadian National Anthem.

How many tries did it take you for ToB? It took me about 20, maybe more.

How many tries so far at IwD II? I dunno, maybe I just got lucky with the cambions. I did get lucky with that Quivering Palm thing. If I hadn't done that, maybe it'd've taken me several tries.

To all others, since this has evolved into the branmakmuffin/mournblade private thread, anyone else who wants to post here has to paint their head blue and sing "O, Canada" backwards in French.

I am using an easier difficulty than hardcore. I found the GAME really easy, but that last battle....GRRRRRRRRRR. The same thing happened to me in THrone of Bhaal. Maybe it is because I am doing the lower difficulty, and I party isn't as experienced.
HMMMMMM...........

I know you get more XP in Heart of Fury mode, but do you get less in levels lower than Hard Core?

I am in no way bragging about my CRPG skills, but the only rason I had to do the battle twice is because my computer crashed in the middle of it the first time.

I found no comparison between the ToB battle and the IwD II battle. The cambion twins and their feeble minions can't hold a candle to (and I mean relative to the PCs power) Melissan and her elder orbs, energy-drainers-from-hell, etc, etc, etc.

What difficulty level are you playing? I played it on "Hard Core", which is supposed to mimic 3e PnP, and I found it ridiculously easy.

I did get lucky at the beginning. My party's monk took out that huge dude in the plate armor (in the first room where you meet the cambion twins) with quivering palm the first round. He's probaly the best fighter in that room. I sent my two toughest fighters up against the cambions, my sorcerer and cleric were casting spells like fiends and my rogue and monk were always double-teaming someone. My rogue probably went through 20 invisibility potions.
