Although the Realms Bestiary isn't official content, it's produced by WotC game designers... so sources cited is still a valid consideration.

Posted - 07 May 2006 : 16:33:25 quote: Also from the Realms Bestiary
In the Realms Alias is the original Alias vessel. She is frequently found in the company of Dragonbait (LG male finhead saurial Pal10), and/or the wizard Mintassan, a famed planewalker (NG male human Tra10/Planeshifter10; see Manual of the Planes, page 30, for details of the planeshifter prestige class). Alias continues to adventure in the eastern Heartlands, particularly the Dragon Coast, Cormyr, the Dalelands, and the Lost Vale. She has also taken to visiting other planes in the company of Mintassan. Despite Finder’s apotheosis, Alias still distrusts priests and gods.
In the Realms Cat Wyvernspur is the devoted wife of Giogi Wyvernspur (NG male human Ari7), head of a prominent Cormyrian noble family and agent of the Crown. The two met during an adventure in which Giogi saved Cat from the evil machinations of his ancestor Flattery Wyvernspur. Cat is commonly found in the town of Immersea, seat of House Wyvernspur, or in Suzail, appearing at court. She and her husband are unpopular in many circles because King Azoun IV awarded them the lands of the disgraced Cormaeril family. Nevertheless, they are useful in ferreting out conspiracies, shifting loyalties, and hidden schemes by means of Giogi’s buffoonery at feasts and revels, and Cat’s careful observations of the reactions to Giogi.

Posted - 07 May 2006 : 16:31:52 quote: Taken from Realms Bestiary, Volume 1 by Eric L. Boyd and Thomas M. Costa
ALIAS VESSEL (TEMPLATE) Finder Wyvernspur, since ascended to godhood, had the original conception for what is now known as an Alias vessel. The Master Harper sought to create a humanoid vessel to contain knowledge, specifically perfect and unalterable knowledge of his compositions. Finder’s plan went awry, resulting in the death of one assistant and the maiming of another. For his crimes, Finder was banished by the Harpers to the Citadel of White Exile, an extraplanar prison, and nearly all knowledge of his compositions erased. Even his name was proscribed, so he became known as “the Nameless Bard.” After many years, Cassana of Westgate, an evil sorceress, rescued the Nameless Bard and promised to aid him in creating another vessel. With the assistance of Cassana, the lich Zrie Prakis, the Fire Knives, the cult of Moander, and a demon named Phalse, the second attempt to create an Alias vessel, who was intended to act as a magical servant, spy, and assassin, appeared to succeed. Named “Alias” by the Nameless Bard, she came to life but remained true to the pure soul and spirit that had been twinned and placed within her. In time, Alias rebelled against her creators and eventually “defeated” all the conspirators. Even Finder’s wishes were subverted when Alias began to modify his music. Alias was but the first Alias vessel, for Phalse create at least a dozen near duplicates, all of which are believed to now wander Faerûn. It is possible that Phalse shared the secret of their construction with other demons or the like, although the death of Cassana, the “mother” of Alias, most likely precludes any more identical duplicates of Alias. However, no proof of such knowledge sharing has been uncovered. Five of these have been identified, including: Cat Wyvernspur of Ordulin, wife of the noble hero Giogi Wyvernspur (see below); the deceased thief Jade; Zhara, a cleric of Tymora and widow of the Turmish hero Akabar Bel Akash; a sage in Candlekeep; a warrior in eastern lands; and a lady of power in Waterdeep. Each of the Alias vessel replicas contains a sliver of Dragonbait’s soul, and thus each is always of good alignment. CREATING AN ALIAS VESSEL “Alias vessel” is a template that can be added to any female human (referred to hereafter as the “character”) at creation. It uses all the base creature’s statistics and special abilities except as noted here. All Alias vessels appear to be clones of Cassana, beautiful, athletic and tall women (140 lb. and 5 ft. 10 in.) with reddish-blonde hair, high cheek bones, and striking green eyes. All known Alias vessels have appeared with at least five class levels, although that is not a requirement. Special Qualities: An Alias vessel retains all the special qualities of the base character and also gains the ability described below. Bardic Knowledge (Ex): The character, like a construct, has been preprogrammed with lots of stray knowledge. Consequently, the character has the bardic knowledge ability of the bard class with a +5 racial bonus to the check. This ability does not automatically improve as the character gains levels. However, this ability does stack with a bard’s bardic knowledge and similar abilities such as a Harper scout’s Harper knowledge or a loremaster’s lore abilities. Misdirection (Sp): The character has a constant misdirection affect on herself, which also affects all those within a 30-ft. radius of her, as if the affect were a 9th-level heightened spell cast by a 20th level sorcerer with a 20 Charisma (DC 24). The character cannot lower the spell affect or control how the information is misdirected. Abilities: An Alias vessels’ ability scores all begin at a base 17. Skills: An Alias vessel is born with inborn knowledge, preprogrammed by her creators. The character begins with four homeland Character Regions – Cormyr, the Dalelands, the Dragon Coast, and Sembia – instead of one (see pages 28-32 of the Forgotten Realms Campaign Setting). The character may use all Knowledge skills untrained. The character gains a +5 racial bonus to her Perform skill checks (most Alias vessels are created with talent in ballad, chordal horn, dance, harp, and storytelling). The character’s automatic language is Chondathan. The character may choose any languages as her bonus languages, regardless of homeland Character Region or class. Feats: Thanks to the power of Dragonbait’s soul, an Alias vessel receives the Strong Soul feat (see page 38 of the Forgotten Realms Campaign Setting) as a bonus feat. Note, the character meets the regional requirement for all the regional feats in her four homeland Character Regions (see pages 30-39 of the Forgotten Realms Campaign Setting). Climate/Terrain: Any land. Organization: Solitary. Challenge Rating: +1. Treasure: Standard. Alignment: Always good. Advancement: By character class. Eric L. Boyd and Thomas M. Costa 7 Bestiary of the Realms, Volume 1 ALIAS VESSEL CHARACTERS Except as noted above, an Alias vessel is treated as a normal human. An Alias vessel’s PC’s effective character level (ECL) is its class level +1; thus a 10th-level Alias vessel fighter has an ECL of 11 and is the equivalent of an 11th-level character.

It can act as a ring of warmth or a ring of mind shielding, allow the user to breathe water, or banish all external magical compulsions upon the user as if a greater dispelling were cast upon her. Only one of the above effects can be used at any time. The user can call upon silver fire to revitalise her, allowing her to function without food or drink for up to seven days. (This function can only be used once a tenday). Once every 70 minutes she may unleash silver fire as a blast of flame. This blast may be in an area 5 feet wide and up to 70 feet long, breaking through barriers as a lightning bolt would and overcoming magical barriers and spell resistance automatically. This blast deals 4d12 points of fire damage (Reflex half DC 23). Alternatively, the silver fire can be unleashed in a 70-foot cone, dealing no damage but permanently restoring dead magic zones within the cone to normal and dispelling (as a greater dispelling spell) any antimagic field effects that contact the cone. This cone effect is draining on the Weave, and Mystra discourages its use except for emergencies. All effects function as if cast by a 20th-level sorcerer. Spell Healing: Storm is immune to chain lightning, ice storm, lightning bolt and magic missile, instead these spells heal her. Sorcerer Spells per Day: 6/7/7/5. Base DC = 14 + spell level. Male human (Chosen of Deneir) Cleric 20 of Deneir: CR 24; Medium-size humanoid (human); HD 20d8+60; hp 150; Init +6; Spd 30 ft.; AC 12, touch 12, flat-footed 10; Atk +19/+14/+9 melee (1d6+6, +2 quarterstaff); or +17/+12/+7 (1d4+4, spindle disk), or +18 (1d4+1/19-20, hand crossbow with +1 crossbow bolts), or +19 ranged (1+2/19-20, +2 hand crossbow); SA advanced turning, brand of Deneir, psionics, turn undead 5/day; SQ immunities, languages, shapechange, song of Deneir, tome of harmony; AL NG; SV Fort +15, Ref +8, Will +19; Str 14, Dex 15, Con 17, Int 18, Wis 20, Cha 15; Height 5 ft. 11 in. Skills and Feats: Diplomacy +7, Heal +6, Knowledge (architecture and engineering) +22, Knowledge (history) +21, Knowledge (nature) +19, Knowledge (religion) +27, Profession (stoneworking) +12, Ride (horse) +4, Speak Language +3, Spellcraft +20, Wilderness Lore +8; Dodge, Education (Knowledge (history), Knowledge (nature)), Exotic Weapon Proficiency (hand crossbow), Exotic Weapon Proficiency (shuriken), Exotic Weapon Proficiency (repeating crossbow), Improved Initiative, Iron Will, Luck of Heroes, Point Blank Shot. Special Attacks: Advanced Turning (Su): If Cadderly makes a melee touch attack with his holy symbol against an undead creature, he can automatically use a turn undead attempt that round against that undead (affecting only that undead and no others nearby). This attempt counts as a use of the character's turn attempts for the day. He gains a +4 sacred bonus to his turning check and turning damage with this attack. Brand of Deneir (Su): By calling upon the holy power of Deneir and pressing his holy symbol to the forehead of an evil creature (a melee touch attack that provokes an attack of opportunity), Cadderly can permanently brand the target with Deneir's symbol. This magical brand cannot be healed, but it can be dispelled. Any good-aligned being that sees the brand immediately knows that the bearer is evil and the viewer's attitude shifts one category toward hostile where appropriate. Special Qualities: Immunities (Ex): The Chosen of Deneir is immune to disease, level draining, negative levels, and poison. Languages (Su): Upon becoming a Chosen of Deneir, Cadderly immediately gained knowledge of a number of languages equal to his Intelligence modifier (Damaran, Dwarven, Elven, and Mulhorandi). These languages are lost if Cadderly ever loses his Chosen of Deneir status. Shapechange (Su) Cadderly can change into a single animal form partially. This is similar to a lycanthrope's hybrid form, and, in Cadderly's case, is a large, white-furred, flying squirrel. There is no limit to the amount of time that can be spent in this form, nor to the number of uses per day. Cadderly gains low-light vision, a climb speed of 30 feet, a +8 bonus on Balance checks, and can fall safely up to 50 feet as long as he is not helpless. (He needs to be able to take physical actions to orient his wing-flaps and fall). Song of Deneir (Su): Cadderly does not need to prepare his clerical spells. Instead, he mentally reviews a unique magical song called the Song of Deneir, which then places the spell in his mind so that he can immediately cast it. This means that casting a spell in this manner is always at least a full round action. (If it's less than a full round, it becomes a full round much like a sorcerer casting metamagicked spells. If it's already a full round or longer, the casting time is unchanged.) Cadderly may prepare clerical spells normally. He is still nominally limited to the number of spells per day that he can cast as determined by Table 3-6: The Cleric in the Player's Handbook. He can cast his normal number of spells per day, but each spell cast beyond this limit risks a powerful headache that leaves him dazed for 1 hour and unable to cast spells above 4th level for a number of weeks equal to the level of the spell that caused the headache. He can avoid the headache by making a Constitution check (DC 18 + spell level + number of spells beyond the limit he has already cast in the past 24 hours). Spell-like Abilities: Once per day - antipathy, daze, detect lies, detect thoughts, dominate person, enthral, mass suggestion, mind blank, Rary's telepathic bond, sending, shield other, suggestion. Caster level 20th; save DC 12 + spell level. The Tome of Universal Harmony: Cadderly is the bearer of the Tome of Universal Harmony, which is the holiest of books of Deneir's faith and understandable only by his Chosen. The pages of the book are filled with mysterious runes, and over time the Chosen of Deneir can determine the pattern within the text - it depicts the Song of Deneir, which is what gives Cadderly his unusual spellcasting ability. The book is handed from one Chosen of Deneir to the next when the old Chosen of Deneir realizes that his time of death is approaching. Any person other than a Chosen of Deneir who tries to read the book must make a Fortitude save (DC 25) or be knocked unconscious for one hour. Cleric Spells per day: 6/8/7/7/7/7/5/5/5/5 Base DC = 15 + spell level. Deity: Deneir. Domains: Good (cast good spells at +1 caster level), Knowledge (cast divinations at +1 caster level). Possessions: +2 quarterstaff, +2 blowgun, hand crossbow, spindle disk, drow sleep poison (1 dose), +1 hand crossbow bolts (each with a dose of oil of force bursts in a tiny vial which shatters if the bolt hits) (16), Tome of Universal Harmony. Spindle Disk: A spindle disk is a tiny exotic melee weapon. The fist-sized sharpened crystal disk has a seam around the edge and a 3-foot cord wrapped into the seam. It is used like a yo-yo; the wielder spins the disk outward at a target, and, if it misses, it automatically winds itself up again (it can be used to make iterative attacks). If the disk hits a target, it must be wound manually (a move-equivalent action) before it can be used to attack again. A spindle disk is technically a thrown item and uses the wielder's Dexterity bonus instead of Strength for the attack roll, although it does not provoke an attack of opportunity when used. The wielder's Strength bonus applies to damage. Cost 5 gp; damage 1d4, critical x2, weight 3 lb., type bludgeoning. Blowgun: A blowgun is usually a hollow wooden tube about 3 feet long, but some versions are longer. A dart is inserted into one end of the tube, and a quick strong breath hurls it out of the tube at a target. Because of their low damage, blowgun darts are usually poisoned. Cost: 1 gp, damage 1, critical x2, range increment 30 feet, weight 3 lb., type piercing. Darts (10): cost 1 sp, weight -- (10 sets of 10 darts weigh 1 lb.). Oil of Force Bursts The oil of force bursts is used to coat a single melee weapon or up to 10 small projectiles (shuriken, arrows, bolts, and so on). When the weapon strikes an object, the oil deals an additional +1d6 points of force damage. The oil's potency wears off after 1 minute. Because the coated weapon must hit a creature to cause the oil to activate, an incorporeal creature that was missed because of its incorporeal miss chance does not suffer force damage from the oil. (In other words, the weapon has to successfully hit an incorporeal creature in order to trigger the oil's effects.) Coating a weapon or 10 small projectiles is a standard action. Caster Level: 10th; Prerequisites: Brew Potion, spiritual weapon; Market Price: 1,000 gp.
