Well met

Just spotted it, George. Appears that a Scribe has been hacked, rather than a new spammer account. Posts removed and account locked down until I can inform the scribe.

Many thanks.

I see at least 3 ads covering the bottom half of the scrolls on my screen, but nowhere else on any other website...is this related to the account of the hacked scribe?

Please forgive any spelling and grammer errors, as my android touch-screen phone has no spellchecker. If I do make a grammer mistake, please let me know and I'll try to fix it.

New laptop, still trying to sort my "scrolls" on its shelves...and when will this cursed thing stop doing things I tell it not to?

I see no ads at all when I visit the 'Keep, and I do so from multiple devices, browsers, and operating systems.

Seems odd to only get ads when on one site, but I'm guessing it's something on your end. Have you tried from another browser?

I only have Chrome as a browser on my laptop. Internet Explorer always lags or just simply won't work. And since my laptop has been giving me the blue screen of death every now and again, I'm not installing anything else on it (and am in the process of backing up all necessary files, like my Documents, Music, Videos, Pictures, games, etc.).

All of those things could be symptoms of malware.

My laptop is 4.5 years old and the harddrive is about 3 years old...plus with the amount of abuse it gets between me carrying it everywhere and then the little ones (not my own, but kids in my family who are under 5 years old and have no concept of how to treat electronics other than slapping/throwing the device), I'm surprised it's survived this long! And I haven't seen the ads today, so maybe it was just a fluke. (I haven't done a scan disk/defrag since June, so it wasn't something on my end).

This is getting worse. Those new LLM bots are quite convincing, to the point that people actually engage with them. But the pattern is clear: there never were that many newcomers who all speak in the same manner and who seem to only be there to drive up engagement on long dead threads as if they were current conversation, by formulating questions based on words in previous comments, or restating them to blend in with the opinions presented.

Individually, they look genuine, but the pattern is unmissable. The problem is that this means the only way to avoid the bots would be to simply ignore everyone who has a few messages. I really appreciated how welcome this community made me feel when I first joined, and I would hate not to return the favour to newcomers. Also, banning everyone who hadn't posted before would mean the certain death of the forum.

So I would like to discuss how we can make higher barriers of entry for newcomers without it gatekeeping humans (keeping in mind that LLM keep getting better, they can draw from knowledge of TTRPG and the realms to bring topic-related information and can understand the content of images).

Ok, I was wondering. At first, I noted they were only responding to a certain banned person's threads... a person that was noted for coming back under other names. So, I figured it was him again. But the recent, I just figured ok maybe some new groups discovered the realms again..... benefit of the doubt. Though, I've also been sending dozens of private messages to Wooly to Banhammer folks that do these responses and later change them.

Alavairthae, may your skill prevail
