Hello!

Would anyone here happen to know which cultural influence (if any) inspired artist Blas Gallego while conceiving that statue on the cover of Finder's Bane? To me, it appears vaguely Indian/Southern Asian.

Stand with anybody that stands right. Stand with him while he is right and part with him when he goes wrong.

Earth names in the Realms are more common than you may think.

Where is that even supposed to be at (I vaguely recall the storyline)? Sigil maybe? The pointed ears remind me of an elf, but also looks like it has teeth/fangs. It also doesn't look extremely "elvish" or "seductive" like Kanchelsis is supposed to be portrayed as.

The only relevant statue I remember in that story is the idol of Bane in Sigil:

quote:
In the center of the room was an altar and a statue carved out of black granite. Both were polished to a high luster, which reflected back the red light. The statue, a human-shaped creature, sat cross-legged on the altar. Its open mouth was filled with sharp teeth, and great horns protruded over its pointed ears. Two black gems sparkled in its earlobes, while another glittered from its forehead. A fourth, even larger, gem shone from a pendant on the statue's chest. Its hands were positioned in ritual signs Joel did not recognize. The face was smooth and youthful, and the flesh well muscled. It wore nothing but a loincloth.
"Is that Bane?" the Rebel Bard asked in a whisper. His voice echoed about the room.
"Probably some avatar he sent to some culture outside the Realms," Jedidiah said. "Handsome, but not the suave, sophisticated Bane we're used to, is he?"

Looks a little bit like the Hindu god Iravan ? But I guess only the artist himself knows (unless Jeff Grubb and Kate Novak told him what to illustrate more than the description of the idol from the text above)

Mudras came to mind. There's a fascinating thought: Bane's avatar conforming to the aesthetics of an Indian or Indian-themed culture. Would he be an interloper deity or part of that pantheon from the start?

Well, visually that description matches the drawing pretty well.
