In a campain I am about to begin, I am going to give Bard's a new ability. I think I will call it empathic song. it gives a +2 to attack and damage rolls. The bonus increases to +4 for Barbarians, because it affects the emotions. this affect does stack with the rage, as rage is an emotion.

I welcome any thoughts, comments, suggestions.

When should they get it?

Or maybe this should be a class?

Someone that specifically influences and controls emotion?

Nothing is wrong with it, but I beleive bards rather lack power that most other classes have. Barbarians also have this problem. Thus, I have designed a class feature that benifits both classes

no feature should depend on what members of the party that there are(n't) ... futhermore ... to say that Barbarian and Bard is underpowered aren't true ... Bard is unique in terms of that he can practicly everything and its mother given time and reasurses ... and Barbarian that aren't built bad is a pure damagemachine only laying down to a specialized Arcanist ... but having the upper hand if getting within arms reach of him ... true, he is not in any way the best as protecting himself but if he was he would be unstoppable

Futhermore the Bard is not just worth it in combat where is is admittedly subpar in terms of dealing damage ... but it is also a class that have it's minute of shine out of combat, basicly it should be looked at as a rogue, without sneak attack, with some noncombat sorc spells and a lot of fluff, and its a long way the same story with Beguiler though with a diffent twist... reason it might seem weak is because its your in a game that is to combatbiased

As a Envoker in my Party in Victors game the only one that can keep up with me in terms of dealing damage is the Barbarian/PsyWar

That's the bard (IMO).

"Instead of asking why we sleep, it might make sense to ask why we wake. Perchance we live to dream. From that perspective, the sea of troubles we navigate in the workaday world might be the price we pay for admission to another night in the world of dreams."
