The character of Drizzt created a cliché that has been driven into the ground, not to mention overexposing the Drow to the point of ridiculousness.
This really saddens me because I am a Drow fan. My longest played and most loved character was a neutral evil Drow rogue. Yes, he was power-hungry and selfish at his core, but he could also love, be a true friend, and even honorable. I never forgot that he was, above all things, a Drow.
I guess I just like my Drow mysterious and evil :/

I would tend to agree with you on the Drow being overdone. It has become a bit of a munchkin race. However, the Character of Drizzt, started about 1986 was an innovative and well thought out character.

Yes, I suppose I do not blame the character of Drizzt (or Bob Salvatore for that matter) for the mess that has become of the drow. Chalk that one up to marketing |
