Too bad it ain't Doom in the Destroyer armour. What a way to incorporate recent tales in the Thor comic!
Anyways, I saw the trailer earlier. I've high expectations for this film. More so than Captain America: The First Avenger, because I've never really been much of a Cap-fan. But I love Thor, the whole Norse dynamic, and the direction the character's been heading into lately.
Bring on the film! |

I'm not really a fan. But the trailer is nice. I just hope the trailer justifies the entire film (unlike THE LAST AIRBENDER). Who's the actor? Can't recall seeing him before.

My wife isn't really info sci-fi, at all (though she did enjoy Firefly and B5). She's only seen one other Star Trek movie, and doesn't remember seeing it... But even she really enjoyed the new Star Trek movie.
As for this trailer... I enjoyed it, and the movie looks worth seeing. But the trailer itself wasn't hugely impressive. |

He's an Australian actor, apparently, though I've never been too interested in any of his work here. This will probably be the first time I've actually watched him in *anything.* |

Sad, evidently they were forced to take the trailer down. |

I'm not a sci-fi fan either, but I've watched several sci-fi movies (but not and never will Star Trek and Star Wars for reasons I'd rather not mention for I know there are a lot of you here who love/adore those). I also read sci-fi books, but mostly concerning mutated heroes; hate to see those robots and ridiculous weapons in most sci-fi books...I'm at home only with fantasy (preferably with doses of humor) lit. That's the genre I grew up with.

True. But interesting nonetheless. And I don't want to expect anything because expectation is always the cause of disappointment. (Though admittedly I can't help sometimes. Like in Airbender; I thought that rising water in the trailer is a WATER ELEMENTAL intent on crushing the Fire Nation troops...sigh...Did I mention the actors (save Iro) suck?)
Anyway, to all fans of THOR, can you tell me a little something important about him? Don't really know the guy. Don't read comics/manga much. I prefer novels.

So long as you don't mind reading online, I suggest you just try here:- http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Thor_%28Marvel_Comics%29
It's currently one of the more accurate summaries online.
Thanks, Sage!
Come to think of it, I haven't even read the comics featuring Sorcerer Supreme. And to think he's one of my favorite characters. (The movie is superb!)

Doctor Strange has always been one of my favourite characters as well. I was ecstatic when I heard those rumours from earlier in the year about Neil Gaiman penning a mini-series featuring the Sorcerer Supreme. Too bad they ended up amounting to very little. |

I suspect Dennis is referring to the direct-to-DVD animated Doctor Strange feature film, released in 2007.
See here:- http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Doctor_Strange:_The_Sorcerer_Supreme
[As a side note, there has been increased speculation of a live-action film featuring the ol' Master of the Mystic Arts. In fact, I recall an article on comicbookresources.com back in February that said something about the preliminaries of a possible pre-production schedule eventually coming to light. Not heard anything further about this, though.] |

Just an animated one, which didn't hit the big screen since it's the straight-to-dvd type.

Am I the only one that's a Thor fan and also thinking the movie is going to be really "meh"?
The acting seems overdone, at least from the actor for Thor and...Natalie Portman? Really? Bad choice. Anthony Hopkins appears to be somewhat of a saving grace for the film.
Actually, I hate the love interest thrown in here. This movie should be about Thor, not Thor and Jane Foster, and this possible love triangle with him, her, and Sif.
I hope they focus on JUST Thor and his character. I want them to really portray the differences of the Asgardians and the Humans. I want to see Thor's character learn to love humans and why he does learn to love them.
The other half of the movie, I believe needs serious CG. He's a thunder god, he should be pulling some Matrix-moves and crippling everything with awesome powers. I hope they don't cheapen out on the CG. They have Disney's resources now, there's no excuse. |

Razz, that's kinda given. The thing about love interest, I mean. Can you name a superhero movie featuring a hero that has NO lover, or whose lover is NOT central to or part of the plot?

Well, the "love interest" was a big part of Thor's early adventures in Journey Into Mystery back in the 60's. Nearly every issue spent some time with Thor on-screen pining his love for Jane. One story-arc even had Odin deliberately decrease Thor's immortal power because of the Thunder's God love for a mortal woman.

Ironic given the nature of Thor's own creation...he is naturally drawn to Earth. |
