Drat, one letter missing from the topic, but I think it's pretty clear. Which story do you think is true? Is it possible to somehow merge them into one explanation?

Yeah I always have thought of it as a mix. As in neither is telling the full truth etc. But I guess we'll never know for sure

Doesn't matter too much since the video game version of the story isn't cannon.
