not sure if this is the right place for this but I am new to Forum sites and I wanted to know what the stars and titles next to certain posters names were and how you attain them?

They indicate how many posts you have made.

There is a rumour going around that I have found god. I think is unlikely because I have enough difficulty finding my keys, and there is empirical evidence that they exist.

The stars are magical shuriken used with great proficiency by the monks of Candlekeep when defending their library, and you'll obtain your first one when your post count reaches 15. The golden ones are only +1, +2, or sometimes +3 but they magically return to each monk's belt after a short time (partly for combat purposes, partly because they otherwise end up serving as bookmarks); the Grand Poobah Mods wield specially blessed +5 Mystra-blue stars which are capable of instantly slaying trolls and other regenerating creatures, plus they may utter command words to teleport scrolls or ward them against further tampering ... it is sometimes whispered that Alaundo's stars have been darkened by the Shadow Weave or infernal scriptfire; it is suspected that they allow him to bypass all locks and wards within Candlekeep, move with free action through webs and ether of all kinds, instantly and unerringly locate scroll even in when the keep is completely paralyzed under siege, and (on rare occasion) cast powerful necrobibliomantic magics like resurrect scroll or banish writing.

Acolyte -- 0 - 14 [no stars]
Seeker -- 15 - 74 [one purple star]
Learned Scribe -- 75 - 349 [two red stars]
Senior Scribe -- 350 - 999 [three gold stars]
Master of Realmslore -- 1000 - 1999 [four silver stars]
Great Reader -- 2000 -- 9999 [five yellow stars]
Miscellaneous title -- 10000+ [five yellow stars plus unique title of your own choosing]

Dark blue stars are reserved for site administration staff and light blue stars indicate site moderators.

Site administration staff, as I mentioned above. There are other special titles also, like George Krashos remaining as a Master of Realmslore even though he's past 2,000 posts. That was at his request. And, of course, there is the Lady Herald of Realmslore, which is a Candlekeep-only title bestowed upon the always lovely and bountiful 'The Hooded One,' who relays questions and answers back and forth between the scribes of Candlekeep and Ed Greenwood. But that's about it.

Sage said "bountiful!"

"These things also I have observed: that knowledge of our world is
to be nurtured like a precious flower, for it is the most precious
thing we have. Wherefore guard the word written and heed
words unwritten and set them down ere they fade . . . Learn
then, well, the arts of reading, writing, and listening true, and they
will lead you to the greatest art of all: understanding."
