Fellow scribes and lorelords. I'm looking to compile a list of all known Thieves' Guilds in Forgotten Realms lore. This research is for a DDI article I'm penning with my brother and the deadline is short.
If you come across an obscure bit of realmslore about a Thieves' Guild please post the name here and provide a reference to where you found it (be it scourcebook, novel, comic, computer game, etc...)
I'll start the list with what I have so far:
- Coinspinners (Luskan)
- Dead Rats (Luskan)
- Fire Knives (Cormyr/Westgate)
- House Basadoni (Calimport)
- Kraken Society (Sword Coast)
- Night Knives (Selgaunt)
- Night Masks (Dragon Coast)
- Nine Golden Swords (Telflamm/Westgate)
- Rundeen (Shining Sea)
- Salt Creepers (Buldamar)
- Shadow Thieves (Amn)
- Shadowmasters (Telflamm)
- Stone Bears (Velprintalar)
- The Grey (Phlan)
- Xanathar's Thieves' Guild (Skullport)

There is an obvious whole ton in Calimport but, I'm not sure there are any specifically named other than the one formerlly run by Pasha Basadoni/Pasha Pook/Regis. Though I can't for the life of me recall what, if any, name was exactly given to this guild.
Good Hunting!
EDIT: Sorry Brian, my eyes skipped over that line when reading your OP. Sorry for the double-tap.

From what I've been able to discern, Pasha Pook's guild is simply known as House Basadoni. |

Hmmm. I'm inclined to give them a name if an official one cannot be found. Ravenscar, being the name of the guild leader, may be appropriate. It's certainly evocative. |

The Fire Knives were prevalent in Cormyr years ago, but were driven out. As far as I'm aware Suzail remains free of an organized thieves' guild to this day. |

| The original FRA reference capitalizes the Guild of Baldur's Gate: 'The Guild of thieves, assassins, smugglers, and fences . . . The Guild ruthlessly crushes rivals'. That indicates to me that that's its name (though not necessarily its only name), and it's probably been there a long time rather than a recent organization named for its current leader. |

| Maybe someone other than myself can more quickly remember the name of the thieves' guild that Cale and Riven were a originally a part of in Selgaunt in Shadow's Witness. I think that Erik had some that he created in Waterdeep circa 1479 for Downshadow as well. |

The other day I was reading the City of Splendors sourcebook and came across the Plague Rats, "an elite organization of thieves, assassins and wererats...(pp. 57)"
Also mentioned there are the Unseen, Agents of the Eye, the Black Boar and Bull Elk tribes and the Shadow Thieves. I would even consider adding the Red Sashes to the list. |

I don't know if they qualify as a thiefs guild but to mention them as they are connected to the Xanathars Thieves Guild: The Sightless (4e Waterdeep) criminals, who operate from Downshadow, many are spellscarred, lead by Avaereene a powerful lich and crime lord (originally appeared in the 3.5 Waterdeep sourcebook as a member of the Xanathar's guild) Hides below the illusion of a youthful, well rounded women, with a heart-shaped face surrounded by vibrant gold curls. (DS 183+) Before Avarenee became a lich, she was in command of the Xanathar’s kidnapping agents known as ‘the Hand’. She was already a skilled mage and slaver of the Xanathar’s Thieves Guild. CoSp/WiW 89
Blackstaff Tower (pg.256) also mentions the 'Shadow Thieves' as a problem for Waterdeeps order. But it's a dream sequenze and also metions organisations like 'Dark Brotherhood' and 'Cabale Arcane' (which i believe to be magical splinter organisations of the Arcane Brotherhood from Luskan). |

Also The Purple Halls |

It's also mentioned in other sources, like The North and Cloak & Dagger. In this last reference, it is revealed that the guildmistress of the Hand is actually a doppleganger, and a member of the Kraken Society. |

Did they use to have a bandit leader by the name of Norris? Also, Phlan had another thieves guild who showed loyalty by cutting off their own ear. Anyone recall the name of that group? |
I hope Candlekeep continues to be the friendly forum of fellow Realms-lovers that it has always been, as we all go through this together. If you don’t want to move to the “new” Realms, that doesn’t mean there’s anything wrong with either you or the “old” Realms. Goodness knows Candlekeep, and the hearts of its scribes, are both big enough to accommodate both. If we want them to be. (Strikes dramatic pose, raises sword to gleam in the sunset, and hopes breeches won’t fall down.) Enough for now. The Realms lives! I have spoken! Ale and light wines half price, served by a smiling Storm Silverhand fetchingly clad in thigh-high boots and naught else! Ahem . . So saith Ed. <snip> love to all, THO

would the Iron Throne be considered a thieves guild??
and what of the various pirate fleets throughout faerun??
the citadel of assassins was listed in one of the Jarlaxle and entreri novels too.... |
why is being a wizard like being a drow? both are likely to find a dagger in the back from a rival or one looking to further his own goals, fame and power

There's one in Thay. I forgot the name, though. And I'm away from my library. Anyone who read The Haunted Lands can probably cite it. It's the guild which that thief that reported to Dmitra was a member of. Wasn't the guild's name mentioned? |
