Red, I've never had my badge checked by anyone at any GenCon except when trying to get into the exhibit hall.
Being as the Candlekeep seminar is in a hotel NOT directly part of the con center (Crowne Plaza: the old Union Station RR station), in the evening after the exhibit hall has closed, I'd say go for it (without a badge). After all, there will be hotel guests wandering around the Crowne Plaza who have nothing at all to do with GenCon.
I ask myself: would Ed expect me to be wearing a badge, just to go see my friends? No!

Just wear your 'friend of Ed' badge.

Too bad I am making my plans so last-minute... I would love to have made-up a Candlekeep shirt based on the designs we were discussing a few years back.

TRW, you should definitely come to the Realms seminar, badge or no badge. It's a free event. We should be able to work that out!

And no worries about the Candlekeep shirts. There are plans.

Cheers

I will be lurking online. While Indy is only 2 hours away, I have to take care of the offspring, as my wife has to be @ work and @ a bridal shower this weekend.

I hope news travels fast.

Darkmeer, you can't get away for just a little bit Thurs night?

I think just going for the CK meet-up would be worth your while.

I would love to go to the CK meetup. I would absolutely love it. Sadly, it's not in the cards this year. Such is life sometimes.

Three kids are difficult for even a short journey, and an evening journey is a nightmare with the youngest. Sadly, Mrs. Greycastle has a work thing Thursday, so I'm out of luck (and dice, unfortunately) for that.

I'm hoping that, next year, I bring my two eldest children to GenCon with me. They'd love it (and that's just the exhibition hall). They'd hate the seminars, but what are you going to do?

As I bundle up my varied gaming and costume junk (and my wife and another of my gamers and their junk!) into the SUV for the 14 hour drive from Connecticut to Indiana, I want to take one last opportunity to remind my fellow Candlekeepers of the Realms game I will be running at the convention:

My little adventuring opportunity: RPG1238454 Play Yourself Adventures (in Faerun) (https://registration.gencon.com/events/38454). It is Saturday night from 6 to whenever (midnight at the earliest).

Please take a peek and give it some consideration. I'll be in the crowd watching the Candlekeep event for certain, so if you have any questions, please do ask me when you see me (I'll make it a point to be obvious, think 'what would a cross between Raistlin and Manshoon dress like?' and you'll find me. Lol) I'd love to meet some of the august scribes hereabouts.

See you at the Con!

I really have no excuse now, when I mentioned the seminar! my wife interrupted me and said " that really sounds like something you would enjoy, why don't you head down there tomorrow night and I'll watch the kids"

It's either her guilt for relocating my novels or she is just that great(or a combo of the two)

So I should will be there

And I will make sure the iPad is charged up so I can post here what Candlekeepers I get the pleasure of meeting. Last time I made it I think I met 7 or 8 including authors who post here. I'm hoping for solid double digits this time.

I'm humbled by the thought, Red. Thank you immensely for thinking of me -- especially since, like Krash, I'm one of the furtherest scribes from this grand event, and getting the requisite time off work and travelling such long distances [considering we'll need extra time-off for both travel and a period to adjust for time-zone differences], isn't always as simple for us folk down here to accomplish.

Of course, if you are indeed willing to make this shipment, then I'd be happy to provide suitable recompense for your financial trouble.

Worry not, friends. We organizers will be having a discussion about how many goodies to set aside for the Candlekeep administrators (shipping arrangements to be decided later). The giveaway will be strictly one to a customer, though; we simply don't have enough for anyone to take an extra one...

How incredibly kind. Thanks so much.

I really enjoyed participating in the Candlekeep panel. It was a nice reminder of what I loved about working on the Realms line, both as an editor and a writer.

Cheers,
