Hail and well met, scribes of Candlekeep! My name is Philip, but on the interweb I go by Sossrim.
I have loved the Realms from the time I picked up the third edition Forgotten Realms Campaign Setting on a whim from the public library in sixth grade, long before I knew of Drizzt or Elminster. I renewed that book a lot; it was, and remains, among my favorite DnD supplements. Equally influential in my early Realms experience was the phenomenal videogame Neverwinter Nights, which I had played through many, many times by the time I picked up my first Forgotten Realms novel.
I have run many a game, both across the table and over the internet, set in the Realms, though I've seldom played in one thanks to the player-DM imbalance. I've also written a fair bit of fan fiction, and continue to do so when not swamped with college work. I like to explore the areas of the Realms that get less attention; I've never written or played in the North, and perhaps my favorite experience in NWN has been in the rich and brutal Thay persistent world.
My greatest ambition is to write an official Forgotten Realms novel, at which point I can die happy. I recognize that this is extremely unlikely to happen, however, so I content myself with writing fan fiction and dragging my party all over the obscure corners of Faerun. I am glad to meet you all; I've often referred to discussions on this site when doing research for my writing, so I know that there's a phenomenal knowledge base here, along with a great many genuinely nice folks. I'm thrilled to be a part of the community, so thanks for having me!

Welcome to Candlekeep! 
Feel free to ask any questions you may have... A lot of us have been Realms fans for years, and we know a thing or three about the setting. Plus, we've got some of the authors and creators here! 
As for the rest of us, we are friendly, mostly harmless, and occasionally strange... Enjoy your stay!
