Yo! What novels can I get information about Anauroach(?), that giant desert, Shade and Skullport?

Oh yes, I'm just someone who doesn't play the D&D game. I just like to read some of the books 'cause I like the setting.

Well met and welcome to candlekeep. Although I am not one of them I get the impression that there are many scribes here who do not play D&D and still read the novels and stay very knowledgable with Realmslore.

As for your question, the proper place for it would probably be the "Novels" forum but I will try to answer it here from my knowledge. The novels with the most information on Shade/Anauroch are the Return of the Archwizards novels by Troy Denning. It is a series I liked quite a bit but MANY did not due to out of character/inconsistent actions by the "good guys". It is a trilogy with an anthology that goes along with it.

As for Skullport. I know Elain Cunninghams "Thornhold" has some Skullport action and there is a Waterdeep novel coming out in a few months that may have some stuff. Other than that I'm not aware of any novels about Skullport but wait a little while and I'm sure some other much more knowledgable scribes will chime in.

Greetrings, Basara, welcome to Candlekeep. The name here is Shadoevar and hailing from Shade Enclave, what books to read?
Answer is check The trilogy of the Return of The Archwizards fro more info on shades and shade enclave. You may like to check the Netheril Trilogy for more info of the history of the Shade Enclave.
Concerning Skull port, I am not too sure whuch book has it, but Anauroch is formerly a rich greenland with lakes (mentioned in the Tehe trilogy of the Return of The Archwizards) and starting origin of the Netheril empire, but the bastard phaerimm converted the land into a wasteland of sand for their own purposes using life draining magic. And not to mention, the undergrounds of Anauroch is the home of the phaerimm. Be alert for them as they are extremely powerful spellcasters.

We have fostered trust, recruited loyalty, and gathered the faithful. We have trained thousands. Our legions can cover the land, fill the sky and travel through the darkness. We can hunt any and all that would deny our heritage. Now is our time, now is the time of the Dark Reign(Rain) of the Empire of Shadows.

Alright, cool stuff guys. Thanks! As for the flaws in characters/story or whatnot it doesn't really matter. I just want more information on the setting itself. Learn more about the culture and everyday on-goings of the place.

Ok, I'll go check out the novels section.

I recommend clicking the "Search" link at the top-right of your screen and searching for the specific things you are interested in (shade etc...), you may find it easier than going through the plethora of posts.

If you wish to know more about Shades, check the reamlslore topic called shadow weave, a lot of answers there.

Parched Sea, one of the first Harpers novels, was set in the Anauroch.
