When did Torm ascend to godhood and how so? I know he had a kingdom somewhere in the dales, all tormites are supposed to try and find it ala the grail.

Anyone?

Thanks :)

Details of Torm's life before ascending to godhood are not well known, I think.
Probably he was a paladin, and lived near the Border Kingdoms.

I see.

By any chance do you know if Bane was a mortal around the same time as he?

I beleive Torm was a paladin serving Tyr, and Tyr is the god that allowed him to ascend to demi-god status. That would mean that Torm was a mortal sometime after Tyr first arrived in the Realms, and while I don't have my timelines handy right now, that would narrow down when Torm wandered Toril as a mortal.

Bane got his godhood from Jergal, who was still worshipped in Netheril, so there is your Bane timeline as well. Sorry I didn't run the numbers, just doing this from memory.

I've read that Torm was mortal soon after the fall of Netheril (-329DR). Tyr arrived in Faerun only in -247DR, so probably Torm was devoted to another god (maybe Ilmater?).

Good stuff, now if only I can pin point Bane and Torm in one timeline, that'd be great.

One thing is certain, the Kingdom that Torm served was either very obscure or so ancient, that the knowledge was lost/forgotten, even to his own Church.

Bane, Bhaal and Myrkul all ascended to godhood after slaying a "quasi-deity"/demigod called Borem of the Lake of Boiling Mud with an artifact known as "The Jhaamdath Dagger" (see 'Faiths and Pantheons').

I do have my books at hand right now, so I cannot remember if F&P mentions any date when this happened.

I think it was in 267 DR -- when Bane, Myrkul, and Bhaal slew Borem.
