I remember when I first read the Bloodstone Lands campaign book and I was confused by Friar Dougald's devotion to Dionysus, considering he was Lawful good. I didn't immediately question a non-Realmsian god as I was aware the original modules were connected to the Realms late in the game.
But now that I have the old modules (thanks E-Bay!), I notice that he was a cleric of Saint Dionysus, whom I can only assume would be one of the many saints of Ilmater's faith. Am I right, and has there ever been any more information to shed any light on this matter?
Thats good . . . I had kind of assumed that the twisted sense of humor evident elsewhere in the Bloodstone books struck again when they mentioned St. Dionysus as the patron of a cleric that drinks a lot and gets into bar fights.
Enduring hangovers could be a form of suffering right? . . . Ilmater would understand . . .
The Ilmatari faith is filled with many many saints, Dionysus being one (the H modules were retconned into FR). I think this was most expanded on in Faiths and Avatars (maybe reprinted in Faiths and Pantheons) and the old Lands of Intrigue box set.
Do all these saints have the Saint template from Book of Exalted Deeds? Or are Ilmatari saints more just titular, in name only? Or something else entirely?

While they may well exist (i.e with the saint template), to date we've never seen them as more than names for a specific subset of Ilmater's concerns.
