Caylith

Caylith is the offspring of the Maenad – Caren and the Crystal Dragon
– Justiariath. Justiariath is a very curious and friendly Crystal
Dragon whose home lies high in the Thunderpeak Mountains.

Her family clan – the maenad's had also made their home in the high
mountains. Justiariath acts as both guardian and protector of the
clan.
Caylith, like her father, had an immense curiousity and after several
years training as a Psychic Warrior in and around the mountains – she
decided set out through Faerun to find her own fate and learn more
about the world in general. Having only grown up around other Maenad's
and seeing the occasional human trader, Caylith is very curious about
other races and cultures.

Description: Caylith is a bit strange at first sight. She stands
very tall and thin. Her eyes are have the elongated look a reptile
and her hands end in sharp talons. Her skin is very pale and somewhat
hard. It seems to shimmer in the light.

She has spent the last few months traveling down the mountains and
through the Dalelands. She recently entered the small town of Hap in
Battledale and is looking for some direction.

Daleson Morningstar

Daleson Morningstar is an unusual human youth raised in the predominantly dwarven community of Glen. The small village (he’s the one in 701 residents) of dwarf miners (traders) raised the lanky youth after finding him among a group of drow returning from a surface raid (Dwarves 12, Drow 0). Daleson traveled abroad with his foster family (which consisted of pretty much the whole clan) and discovered his Lathanderite mentor while trading with the local dale towns (Billod, a Cleric of Lathander). Daleson learned about the teachings of the Morninglord, yet he yearned for more than performing rituals and blessings of crops. His dwarven family taught him the values of hard work and the virtues of battle. So, Daleson became a Paladin. Still serving his god, yet weeding out the tendrils of evil in the dales allowed the youth to excel at the values his god held dear.

Daleson is tall, yet he grew out of his lanky stages during his physical training with his family and on becoming a Paladin. He is athletic, creative, and very competitive. He values family and friends, and is unafraid of getting his hands dirty, knocking one back with the boys, or stretching the law when it serves the greater good. While he loves Mistledale, he is not afraid of traveling, which is what has brought him to the village of Hap in Battledale. It doesn’t hurt that his mentor oversees the local shrine either.

Elussien -Deceased

Elussien Van’Swiftwing was born in a border town near Baulders Gate, into a wealthy Elfish family. He was born sixth in the family line of Van’Swiftwing, being the twin of his brother Arthual Van’Swiftwing. Arthual was born first, being the strong dominate child that was expected, yet to everyone’s surprise, Elussien was born within minutes afterwards. But the birth of Elussien was not one of excitement for the family of Van’Swiftwing, because the child was born small, smaller then any had ever been. The father, Jaxcel, wanted to dispose of Elussien, believing the child would be unfit for their family line and possibly the city they had so much renown. The mother, Dawn-all Van’Swiftwing, fought tremendously to keep the baby, claiming he was certainly a blessing, or else he would never have come into the world. This was the birth of Elussien, one that was troubled and fraught with portraits of future problems.

Elussien had a childhood unlike that of most. Often children will ban together to create amazing stories of dragons and knights, or horrifying beholders being defeated by valiant warriors. But the children of the town always seemed to over look or completely ignore Elussien, not wanting the ‘weak’ Elf to ruin their fun. One elfish child in particular, Kerngor Elssgoth, went out of his way to cause Elussien trouble. He would bully, verbally abuse, challenge and prod him, until the boy was usually on the ground crying in misery. His family, under the pressures of their father, demanded that nothing be done to help Elussien, he needed to learn how to adapt. So the torment continued for years, unchecked, making Elussien biter and defensive.

When Elussien reached the age of twenty five, his family had become recluse, almost keeping him at a distance so as to not infect their lives with his unhappiness. All the time, he would try to do something that would prove to his parents he was the child they could respect and love, yet nothing he ever did brought about his fathers acceptance, which kept the rest of his family from caring. Almost on cue, a human man met up with Elussien, his name was Ronald Perwiggle. This brought about his next life, his new life which would forever mar his future.

Ronald Perwiggle, a rogue from the city of Calimport, took the drawn up youth under his wing and began the training of another who would walk the shadows. Elussien never once complained, instead he focused all of his attention on being the best of the best, and applied these new talents towards real life circumstances. Ronald took Elussien to Calimport where his skills would be hardened and refined, also so that he could use the boy for jobs he was suited for.

After a few years, Elussien became a hardened veteran of the Rogue’s guild, and became extremely skilled in stealth, killing without being seen and more. He was becoming exactly what Ronald had hoped, a thief without conscience. But what Ronald never knew, was that Elussien did all these things in the odd dream that maybe he would finally find approval from his family, and there by become a true member of house Van’Swiftwing. Unfortunately the cunning Ronald Perwiggle was able to maneuver Elussien into forgetting his dreams and concentrate on what the guild wanted, which was of course… Power.

Elussien took every task given him, completed it, then went and did more. He was the ideal Rogue, which had a few in the guilds jealous of his talent. Here was the beginning of his troubles. He was an elf, different then the others, who were Halflings, humans and gnomes. He never expected their treachery to go so far, but it happened without his notice.

When Elussien had completed one of the most important jobs Ronald had given him, he took some leave to visit his family. It had burned in his heart to let his family know he was important, he was special, he as not a worthless being. He arrived in town, only to find that his father had died, and with him, the dream of acceptance. His hopes were dashed and torn, leaving him as hollow as he had when he’d left for Calimport. While contemplating his next move, a familiar voice piped up, it was Kerngor Elssgoth. The boy had grown into an adolescent, with detailed biceps, a powerful chest and stout legs. He had not only become a strong individual, but the youth had enrolled in the local militia, allowing him to yield a polished Long Sword. It was here that he began to challenge Elussien, brandishing his sword in a threatening manner.

But Elussien was no child, no longer the weak Elf who could not defend himself. He had been in several skirmishes while in Calimport, and had not only learned how to defend himself, but how to kill quickly and efficiently. Kerngor continued to threaten, shouted even, trying to provoke the small elf, but it had no effect on Elussien. So Kerngor made the mistake of advancing and actually swinging the blade near Elussien. This provoked an instinctive action, one Kerngor never saw coming. With a swift flick of his wrist, Elussien had thrown one of his long hidden dirks, into the chest of his childhood bully, forever ending his life in the town he’d always thought of as home. Without ever speaking to his family, he left town and quickly retreated to Calimport, knowing his only life was with Ronald and the Rogues guild.

When Elussien arrived he was not greeted with a welcome hand. Apparently there was a common belief that Elussien had somehow stolen a rare gem belonging to Ronald Perwiggle. After several wretched hours of questions, berating and taunting, the guild cleared Elussien giving him freedom from the act.

A week later, Ronald presented Elussien with one of the biggest and most lucrative jobs ever. This would be a group exercise due to the importance and difficulty of the job. Without ever questioning what he was given, he saddled up with all his gear and went with the group. The job itself went perfectly, just as it was supposed to, they stole an extremely rare diamond, one thought to be worth 40 plat, something that would settle a lot of scores the Rogue guild had incurred over the years. While the group was joking about how efficient they were and how easily the job went, Ronald and the group turned on Elussien. With precision hits and the use of a steel rod, the group dropped Elussien with Ronald standing over the crumpled form.

“You’ll never know just how important something is until you’ve finally lost it.” Those words were spoken by Ronald Perwiggle, the words that would burn in Elussien for years to come. Later Elussien would find out that Ronald had been tricked by several members of the guild, sewing doubt, so that he was the thief of the gem in question.

It took several months before Elussien was able to get around without any difficulty, his body finally healed from the brutal beating of his once called companions. It was a biter taste in his mouth, the thought that everyone had turned on him, without ever giving him a chance to explain himself. He didn’t know or even care about the reason, because now this was a personal problem that he wanted resolved, and quickly thoughts popped into his head. He had to redeem himself, he had to show these people that he was not afraid, that he was to be feared and not played with.

Strangely his mind formed around only one thought, Ronald, he had to punish Ronald. The others could be killed or dealt with in time, but Ronald had to be shown he was not to be trifled with. So in the weeks to come, Elussien would form in his mind, the most diabolical scheme he had ever come up with, a task that would mark him and change him forever.

One month from when Elussien had concocted the idea, Ronald took a trip to his sisters house which was near Calimport, but on the outskirts. When he got there, he was greeted with shock and pain. His niece Myia had been killed, murdered to be exact. When he looked at his dead niece, he noticed instantly the note attached to the childes forehead; “You’ll never know just how important something is until you’ve finally lost it.”

After this, Ronald and his gang find Elussien, and they believe to kill him. Only, they didn’t, they failed in the task. Elussien was rescued by some friendly folk who took pity on him and set him up so he could heal. It took several months for him to even get back into walking order, several more, before he could actually wield a weapon again. He knew that if Ronald ever found out he was alive, he would be quickly disposed of, this time permanently. So with the help of a very expensive surgeon, he had his elfin ears trimmed so that they more resembled the rounded human ears; altered his brows, so that they were no longer sharp and even, but curved like a human. And finally, he shaved all of his hair, leaving him bald as a jay bird. He took a human name, Valinco Cappadoor and went into deep hiding. After several more years had passed Elussien decided to hunt down his mentor and finally end the feud. This search has led him to the town in which the campaign begins

Rhiannon Prydain

Rhiannon was born to a human mother and a wood elven father in the
high forest just south of the Silver marches. Her mother was a druid
follower of Silvanus and it was she who raised Rhiannon most of her
life, allthough she still visted her father in his elven villege often
and learnt the elven tounge from him.

Allthough raised by druids, Rhiannon's mother waited before allowing
Rhiannon to become a druid herself, just to make sure that Rhiannon
understood the level of commitment she was makeing. As Rhiannon
belived that druids should encourge cooperation between people in the
citys and people in the wilderness, she chose to worship Silvanus's
daughter Mielikki instead, as her faith promoted cooperation.

Rhiannon remained in the high forest for all of her druid training and
a while afterwards, she often joined in on diplomatic envoys to
Silverymoon and the great Trent leader Turlang. (Rhiannon is very fond
of Trents).

Once she had truely come of age however, Rhainnon begain to feel a
urge and need to truely expolre Faerun, although she still loves the
high forest and still thinks of it as her true home, she wanted to see
more of the world.

Rhiannon's true allies are the druids, trents and elves of the high
forest, but she is friendly to all followers of those Gods that
Mielikki herself considers friends. Her recent travels have brought
her to the dalelands, a pleasant land she enjoys spending time in, but
she has not yet remained long enough to form any serious connections.

Trahaearn - Deceased

Trahæarn was
born in the Year of Bright Dreams to the stalwart, but generally not "outstanding," ap Cathaoir clan in the Village of Moonrise Hill. Trahæarn excelled in archery, but could never fully commit to it. The call of Corellon Larethian is strong to him, but is uncomfortable
(for unspecified reasons) with the formal priesthood to never have become
one. Partly, he ascribes his affinity to 'law' as the reason he never felt
comfortable in a 'chaotic' clergy. At his parent's suggestion, he has left
the environs of Moonrise Hill, to better learn about and explore the world.

Valanwé

Valanwé was born and raised in Evermeet, to parents Ichthalien and Nerith in DR1250. He follows in his father's footsteps in his desire to become an accomplished Wizard - but the pursuit of knowledge of all things arcane and otherwise, and his ability to absorb such knowledge drives him further, and faster than his father, whom he secretly hopes he will exceed in power one day.

Valanwé has a great love for his fellow Elves, but further to that he strives to exist with all non-evil creatures of any race. He has an extremely strong sense of good and evil, and a simillar sense with that of the law, or lack therof. Besides the pursuit of knowledge, his main driving force comes from a self-imposed need to aid his fellow Elves where necessary, and a deep longing to do good in the world.

Valanwé is well travelled, though spends much time in his home of Evermeet. It was when he was there last that he answered Sieveril's call to join arms and travelled with him to Evereska. He became a part of the great army assembled there, and fought at the Battle of Evereska against the Fey'ri, before heading to Myth Drannor on a quest to discover the enemy's weakenesses. On his journed to Myth Drannor, a Sending arrived to say that the war was, at least for the moment, over. He had reached Battledale by the time that the message had arrived, and decided that a short break, and rest was in order, he tied up his horse, and currently resides at one of the local taverns, exploring the area, and making conversation with any of those passing through

Selm

Selmwell Fletwaral was born in the Semberholme woods of Deepingdale near Lake Eredruie to Aroluu, his druidic mother. She taught him the ways of Eldath as he grew up until he was eleven. Aroluu was stricken seriously ill with the Shaking Plague that was later to decimate Scardale and knowing he was at risk staying with her, petitioned the elven village of Bristar to take Selm in. They granted her permission for this due to her care for nature but she refused their aid, not wanting to put them at risk of such a deadly disease and stayed out in the woods to let nature’s cycle take its course. Selm was taken into the care of the Calaudra family, where he was loved and finished his childhood. Much as he enjoyed his life in Bristar, where he was accepted for his kind and gentle nature, when he came of age he set out to spread his faith in the name of his mother.
He firstly returned to his former home in the woods, divining his mother’s resting place and sanctifying it in the name of Eldath. He then travelled to Highmoon and settled there for a while before he met his moon elven partner, Issinofil. She was attracted by his charm, loving heart and understanding of elven ways. A beautiful free spirit, she enchanted him and he followed her on to a life on the road, building up a powerful friendship and strong bond of love. A Harper for many years, Issinofil quickly recognised the necessary qualities in Selm and he accepted her invitation to join. Issinofil reports directly to Syluné of Shadowdale, having cultivated her friendship over many years and carries a piece of the Witch of Shadowdale’s ruined hut. Selm has only met Syluné a handful of times but had quickly come to love and admire her. Selm and Issinofil have been together for six years, adventuring in each other’s company for large tracts of this throughout the northwestern Dales.
For the past fifteen months, however, Selm and Issinofil have been separated in their Harper duties. She has been working as an attendant in the Ashabenford Arms in Ashabenford, Mistledale in order to monitor a powerful and seemingly rogue Zhentarim wizard who has taken up residence there. Selm, meanwhile, has been operating across Battledale and has recently helped uncover a cabal of priests of Talos operating just outside of Hap.

Issinofil - NPC, Selm's lover

Issinofil Rosefall appears as a beautiful elf with long black hair spilling down her back, a smooth pale complexion and playful eyes of a brilliant shade of green. Her easy grace and charm are visible from her manner and attire. Typically she dresses in her magical vest, a rare elven treasure, and a short skirt with slits to allow mobility while also showing off her graceful curves. An ornate golden belt encircles her slender waist. When outside, she wraps herself up in her elven cloak, allowing her to blend in with her surroundings and supple knee-high leather boots. Her magic bag contains various tools and changes of clothing. On her right hand Issinofil wears a silver ring identical to one worn by her partner Selmwell and around her neck is a golden heart-shaped locket which contains her Harper pin. Miri, her familiar, is a somewhat proud but very affectionate tabby and white tressym.

Emillo

Emillo Mysterion was born to two parents who didn’t have much money, but were well known for their courage and help in the area of Sundabar. His father Otherio, a Ranger of more than sixty years in the service of the great Goddess Mystra, was an elf who represented the needs and desires of the populace. He was always there to lend his mighty sword arm, or his trusty bow shot for the people, and yet he was able to spend vast amounts of time with his family, showing his love and devotion. Adara Callamoon Mysterion, the mother of the eventual Ranger Emillo, was an elven woman who did not square up to the norm in that sort of society. Typically, an elven woman would take on the trade of some powerful sorceress, or grand Arch Mage, or maybe a sturdy battle worn warrior, but this was not the way for Adara. She, along with Otherio made the decision to be a stay at home mother, who would watch over their children should they ever have any. And it was only after 15 years that they had their one and only child, Emillo Mysterion.

It was from this vantage point that Emillo was brought up. He not only knew his father who was courageous and beloved, but was taught mainly by his loving mother and that is why he started out his life as a non violent elf. His perception was that there was no need to hurt others around you, if everyone worked together. Though his father was a man of the blade or bow, he felt that there had to be a reason, even though later on it would be a move that cost him precious time from a loving dad. As Emillo grew from the teachings of his mother, the non violent way, he began to exude a strange uncanny affinity with nature. Obscure animals would wander onto the homestead unannounced and play with the youth, only to leave later on in the evening. The only explanation was that Mystra had blessed Emillo in a strange way.

For more than 24 years Emillo stayed with his family, taking what his parents taught him and became a knowledgeable elven scholar. Because of his intellect, his parents decided that he needed to grow not only to be a strong man, but a smart one as well. So, through a family friend they transported the youth to the steps of Silverymoon, the one place where Sages of all sorts and color roamed freely. This would provide him an education that not many could match.

During the ten years of his intense training, he learned from many of the most important people who resided in the special place. Yet he always desired more absorbing everything he could. Then shortly after his 35th birthday, he met Allazel, a female elf who was at the time training in the skills of the Ranger profession. To put it in simple terms, it was love at first sight. She was only 34 at the time and they were both full of hormones that humans usually have mastered by this time.

As the days passed, then months, the two elves began to form a special bond, one that they could no longer state as simple friendship; no they were in love. They began to take steps that brought them closer no only physically, but mentally. This union was special for both of them, because this was the first time they had thoughts of forever, the future they would craft together.

After ten years, near Emillo’s 50th birthday, the pair traveled to his home, so that Allazel could meet the family she would forever be apart of. Both parents as it turned out were ecstatic about the relationship and welcomed Allazel into the household as if she were one of their own.

The two stayed with the family for several weeks, letting the bonding not only be between them, but through the whole family. Before Emillo left, his father took him aside and told him that now would be the time for the youth to begin his quest for what he would do in his life. And because his eventual daughter-in-law would be a Ranger, what better job could Emillo slip into, then the one his father was already in. But this only caused Emillo to lash out angrily, telling his father that he didn’t want or need a profession where killing was a basic commodity. The words were harsh and meant to be so, and so with a hardened heart, Emillo and his beloved made their trek back to Silverymoon.

The years went by quickly as the two continued their love fest, and at the tender age of 54, Emillo proposed to Allazel, devoting his entire life to the beauty. And so the time wore on, as it usually does when good events transpire. Unfortunately the good times only lasted a little over a year, and all would change after Emillo would turn 55.

Emillo for Allazel’s birthday, had gotten together with all her dear friends, and had concocted a devious plan to get the elven woman into the mountains nearby. His plan was simple, the fellow students would get her to head into the mountains and near sunset, when the blistering sun would shine its most golden bright, he would give her a ring he had forged with the help of a local smith. The ring itself was of precious beauty, something that boasted of his eternal love, that would bear his heart and soul for all to see. This ring would symbolize their union, and they could finally be one.

And so the day came, when the students convinced the dear Allazel to head into the mountains so that they could forage for much needed roots and herbs. Emillo traveled by horse outside the city, preparing what he would say, preparing for the perfect time.

As the time drew near, when the sun began its decent, Emillo started to make his way up the side of the mountain. Unknown to him, was a band of Goblins traveling on the other side of the mountain, after raiding a nearby village, blood lust in their veins. The students were all intent on their business, continuing to hunt for herbs. So they were unaware when the goblin band crested the side of the mountain, directly opposite the busy elves. There was no warning, no screech to announce their position, they merely attacked. The first three goblins threw spears as the group, which gave away the position of the threat, but six other goblins with short bows downed three of the students.

Allazel in a flurry of fear and anger, took up her bow, which she had crafted for her training in the Ranger ways, and began to fight back. Her talent was beyond that of the Goblins and within a few shots she had taken down three, arrows protruding from their heads.

Emillo who had heard the screams of battle, reared his horse into a full gallop not caring what could possibly happen should the horse hit a loose rock or soft gravel. All he knew was that he had to get there, to protect the one he loved. His speed was beyond most, taking him easily up to the ridge, just in time to watch as the goblins began to assault the only standing survivor… Allazel.

The arrows, six in all, appeared to come down in slow motion as each with deadly accuracy hit his beloved. One took her in the stomach, three in her chest, one in her leg, the final one striking her solidly in the throat. She crumpled like used laundry tossed to a dirty floor. With a howl of utter despair, Emillo leapt off his horse and ran to Allazel. The goblins panicking easily began to run away, not sure what a male elf could or would do. He buried his face into her blood covered body and wept openly, not able to stand with such a torrent of emotions coursing his mind.

Then as if fate stepped in, his hand rested on the bow she had used to kill a few of the enemy. Suddenly his mind stopped, only one emotion flooded through, taking him under control; rage. With hate filled eyes, Emillo looked the heavens and spoke openly, his grief still evident as his voice was cracked and slurred. “Mystra if you truly exist, guide my hand, make my aim true and I promise to follow your teachings should I survive.”

It was then over the course of several hours, that Emillo systematically hunted down every goblin within a two mile span, and slaughtered them without any show of mercy. It was his only redemption and even though it took not away the pain of loss, it helped to make him feel something else which was easy.

After his butcher spree, Emillo buried his love in the mountains north of Silverymoon, saying soft prayers and promising to meet her again someday soon. Then from pure weariness he flopped to the ground, his blood stained face grinding into the burial dirt.

To this day Emillo is not sure if what happened next was a dream or reality, except that it changed his life. As he lay quiet, neither caring to live or die, he heard a voice, soft and gentle. It was of a woman, a woman beyond beauty. She was radiant, or appeared so, and she seemed to peer straight into his soul. She spoke, her voice strong with authority and power. “Stand Emillo Mysterion, your path is not yet over. Seek he who knows you best, and finish what you promised to me.” As quickly as she had appeared, she was gone.

Without even knowing why, Emillo then stood, taking up only the bow and mechanically walked east, to his parents home in Sundabar.

This is taken from a passage in a Harper journal several years later. “…and crossing the ridge, Emillo Mysterion, sees his home, the palace of his youth. Smells of hickory and herbs assail him as he nears the rickety wooden home.”

Even though the two had been at ends, his father easily accepted him back into the fold. And it was from here that Emillo began his training, his formal training in the talents of the Ranger.

For more than thirty years the two traveled the realms, taking down vile enemies, and troublesome beasts. It was over this course of events that his father passed away, leaving behind his enchanted sword and years of knowledge. Emillo who knew nothing more then to continue on, did what was expected, and began to make a name for himself.

A few years later Emillo was approached by a Harper who wanted only to be a friend. Over the years that the two spent together, Emillo took up the Harper lifestyle, believing that all beings had the right to freedom. It could have been that he wished he could have given freedom to the woman he loved, with a long life, or it could of just been that he needed the family, but Emillo enjoyed the Harper life and soon was so entrenched he didn’t know how he’d ever existed without them. It was during these years that Emillo took on his compaion, Ssethalis, a coral snake. The two depended on each other, as animals do in the wild.

As Emillo stayed in the west his adventurous heart told him to travel east, see what the world had to offer. The Harpers ever glad to hear that nother of their fold has been stricken with the wanderlust bug, eagerly told the elf to travel to Cormyr, a place where he could learn a lot more.

When he reached the age of 100, having learned both easy and hard lessons, Emillo began to commit all his time to the vanquishing of enemy’s of peace. So it was that he got the bow which meant so much to him, enchanted with a frost brand. Armed with his fathers mighty sword and his now powerfully blessed bow, Emillo was a force to be reckoned with. His harper identity was often known from that point on as, the splinter.

And so with Ssethalis at his side, a nose for trouble, Emillo set off into the Dalelands wondering what adventures lay before him…

Aron

My earliest memory is that of waking up. I will remember it to the day I pass unto the hallowed realm of the Great One who will be –now, come, Friend, do not look at me this way, all will be explained. I will remember that awakening not because the act itself was special or peculiar, but because everything else was. Not quite grown, not quite a pup, with nary a thought in my mind, I found myself in the Earthwood, near Ravensburg. Now, I did not know that then, only much later. But there I sat, with no more than the rags on my body, a serviceable but poor falchion at my waist, and a gnawing, grumbling hunger in my belly. “Why was I there”, and more importantly, “who am I”, were among my possessions – as questions, not answers. I stumbled forth from the wood at the sound of a passing caravan, and found that I possessed not only language, but local Damaran. And, t’was a good thing too – for I found myself not looking like the others. I also learned I could move faster than they, because the first words from their mouths was that of “werewolf!” I see you do not believe me; hold fast and I will prove my story. Just let me undo this strap – there. Ho! Yes, I can kill you where you stand, but I am no were-creature. Come, In Mielikki and Illmater’s hallowed names, we have broken bread, I have shared my bounty with you – do you not think were I a werewolf, I would have slain and eaten you rather than the salted, tinned, mutton I generously shared? You wanted my story, so sit and listen. Or be off.
I am glad you decided to stay. Eh? No, I will not re-affix the magic, this is who I am, and I – now – am certainly comfortable with me. As your reaction did to you, that caravan’s reaction did to its guards, and how I hastily made my way into the woods rather than into some unsheathed steel. But even that did not last, for not long after the powers and lordlings in Ravensburg swept their forces through the near edges of the Earthwood with hirelings and adventurers in search of name and gold. After a few such encounters, I decided the best decision would be to head in the direction away from the forays, which as it were turned not further south, into the heart of the wood, but westerly, along the fringes towards the western Earthspur Mountains. Why? I never thought to ask that – I felt drawn there. No, of course not, from where I was the Earthspur Mountains weren’t visible, for one, Friend, there were too many tree canopies, never mind the distance. I made it, almost dropping myself from hunger and exertion. Of course I hunted, don’t be a dolt. However, it was a bolt-and-run affair; I had hunters of were-kind at my back.
Only in finding my Master – who I did not know as my Master – Taurkanthas at the outskirts of the Earthwood near the Earthspur Mountains, did I find some acceptance. He spied me, as stealthy as I thought I was. He was in a clearing, near the center, meditating, when I first spotted him. Only three days before had I run into some bumbling trappers that thought they would catch themselves a were-pelt; instead, I imagine they are still explaining their stupidity to Kelvemor. But, in that clearing, Taurkanthas stood, eyes closed that I could see, but facing where I was trying to silently move past. I could not understand it; to my ears, I made no sound, I was as a shade in the woods. Yet, with each step, each measure of distance I moved, he turned, ever facing me. I observed him – he was ancient to my too-young eyes, that ageless elderness monks possess. “Hail, friend, will you not talk to me?” he called out. I froze – what else could I do. None save us were present, him facing me, eyes ever closed, and I far enough distant, in the woods, under what I thought was adequate concealment. He neither yelled nor shouted, yet I heard him perfectly, if softer than I now speak to you. “Come, friend, let us talk” he said again, and opened his eyes. They bored into me. Part of my mind knew it was folly – I was seen, by whatever arcane, divine, or mystical art, and this could prove deadly. Yet, that base part of me – that part that has you fidgeting there by our fire, don’t think I don’t notice – took control. The rage at all that had happened to me since I awoke burst forth on one angry call, I drew my sword, and charged, hoping to strike him down in some form of vengeance. I crossed the distance faster than I had ever done so before – and, possibly, since – my sword arcing down – and then arcing away out of my grip. I landed on my back, his foot on my throat. I still believed in his frail ancientness, despite this turn of events, and sought to throw him free of me. Try as I might, he held me down, his foot never leaving its place on my neck. “Why struggle, young friend?” He wasn’t breathing scarcely an harder than when I had seen him meditating, yet I panted for my life’s breath. “If you struggle, you will only hurt yourself. Please, Aron!” I froze. A patch of the fog in my mind dissipated. I was Aron. Of that I was absolutely sure, as of the fact that I am part wolf. “I…” I gasped at him, “I am Aron.” “Yes, yes you are, you silly pup. You are Aron, and I am Taurkanthas. Illmater sent me to find you.” He could see my confusion – no, I did not know Illmater. Or Mielikki, or any of the other gods then. He could see my confusion, and, his foot still firm on my neck, bent down and touched my head, under my ear, about where your temple would be. I could feel him, there, not only touching my head but inside, touching my mind. A great sadness overcame him, sadder than I would ever see him to this date, and he sat next to me with great weariness. “Oh, my friend, The Broken One had not told me,” he sighed, almost to himself, “He told me your suffering was great, that I was to find you, to help you, but He did not tell me your affliction.” “My affliction, ancient one?” He chuckled sadly, “I am not ancient, young pup, but yes, your affliction. What is the earliest you remember.” As now, was then, and I told him that I told you – my earliest memory was awakening in the wood. He nodded, and offered me his friendship, and a place to rest. I need not bore you with the tales of my training, or of what came to pass at the monastery of the Yellow Rose, but he kept his promise – that while he could not help me regain that which I had lost, he could help me from there on out, and ensure that I was neither lost, friendless, nor alone in the world.
However, my nature is what it is. The monastic life I am ill-suited for, and found myself sneaking off, into the mountainous wood to relieve my senses of the stone and built conditions of the monastery. Not all were happy with my penchant for doing so – I did not yet have this wondrous hat to help my comings and goings – but my Master smoothed tensions, and helped ensure that none outside the monastery saw my comings and goings. You see, the unshakable knowledge given me by the monks and priests of Illmater that I am not of were-kind despite my visage would do little to stave off rumors of were presence should I be seen. Those rumors from my First Day never subsided.
One of my outings showed me a danger; my wood – yes, friend, I thought of the wilds around the monastery as mine, as the monks certainly weren’t claiming it! – had a visitor, one who could move stealthily enough, and make professional attempts at covering his tracks, yet I knew someone was there. On finding more signs, I raced back to inform my Master that there might be trouble. He gave me one of his smiles – you know the sort, that elders give their charges when they found something of great import, but that the elder already knew – and bade me to follow him. In to Illmater’s chapel I followed and there – she was beautiful. I won’t go into details, they are painful. You see, later, much later, I saw Miriam die at the hands of the Dragon Cult. But that day, beauty. For some reason, which I nave never been privy to, and which sages nor seers of either Mielikki or Illmater can explain to me, she was bade to teach me, to home my skills, and I passed from Illmater’s service to Mielikki’s. But, you understand, She – Mielikki – came to me, told me that it was necessary She claim me. She knew my soul was another’s but to ensure that it did not get trapped by the rules of souls here, She had to claim my soul in order to send it on to its destination when the time would come. How I know this is a story for another time. As for why, I do not know; neither Illmater – who I can still call on – nor Mielikki will answer my pleadings on this matter. I should not have mentioned Miriam; we had not time enough before… it is late. I have heard the thrice damned Dragon Cult may be near, and I mean to bring Miriam an honor guard.

Bach

Name: Bach (prounounced Bok)

Description: He stand just shy of 6ft tall and has a broad build but is not paticuraly muscular. He has sandybrown hair that he keeps pretty close cut and pale blue eyes that have a small ring of yellow around the pupils. His constant thinking and calculating makes him appear to have a permanent scowl. He will be wearing travle worn woodsmans garb with soft leather boots and an acient backpack on his back. He will be visibly armed with a bow and a longsword.

Background: Bach grew up an orphan in a village near Silverymoon. He was taken in by the owner of what passed for the village's inn. There was no love between him and the staff or the partons. He was about eight when a band of adventurers came through and he was able to worm his was into the company as a page. He quickly became the groups good luck charm and as he grew older he became less of an assistant and more or a comrad. The partie's two wizards realized that he had incredible tallent to become a spellcaster. The group took him in and taught him how the world works, how to flow with the coin, and prepare for everything but be able to deal with something unexpected.

Motives/Reasons for adventuring: The group he had been adventuring with has retired and his restless spirit and taken him to the road again. He does not like to work alone but even when he is with a party he unconsiously tries to show that he is self proficent. Those around him believe "He could take them or leave them" but the truth is that he really cherrishes the companionship. HIs long term goal is to amass enough power to defeat the Magister and become Azuth's right hand.

Hi Storm. Yes, I'd create a new topic in this forum (Adventuring), it would probably be suitable for your needs.

Life is either daring adventure or nothing.
