Greetings, fellow scribes and comrades-in-arms, it had been quite a long time since I had posted. Well, ahem, recently I and my players played a campaign based along the Sword Coast to the Shining Sea, and some of the players were plain disgusted when the DM mentioned the players have to deal with some slavers and "morally decaying" people. We previously thought that the villains are the ones with moral and social decay inside them. So this actually struck up a topic about the extent of the decay and corruption in Faerun. Also, quite a number of the players mentioned that even some famous heroes of Faerun are "decaying morally inside while being blind to it" and hence I am pleased to say that I would like to discuss this with fellow forum members and comrades-in-arms about the decay and corruption in Faerun in its many forms, including some of the famous icons.

The decay and corruption in the realms can range from physical decay/corruption to to social decay to moral corruprion/decay to lack of ethics/conduct to infidelity and lack of loyalty and faithfulness to what you think can be listed as forms of corruption and decay such as social decay and drinking.

To help stay on topic, forum members are highly encouraged to provide their opinions on these points: But Beforehand, please, this topic is not directed against any of the authors, so no bad comments against the authors please.

1) The Knights of Myth Drannor especially Sharantyr and Torm(if you read the Spellfire novels and Shadow of the Avatar novels, you will know who), it was mentioned that they are go round unclad with the opposite sexes and even having fun like that in some situations, Jhessail flirting with the great El despite being married, Torm dressing a lady corpse for Sylune and hugging around with the animated corpse, Sharantyr dressing up right in front of the males with no screen cover while preparing for a mission, and the Knights flirting anyhow with anyone without regard for morals and personal code of conduct. So what are your opinions, is the moral decay rampant inside them? Can they be true Knights of Myth Drannor with such corruption inside their souls? Add in your opinions as well while answering the main points.

2) Cormyr: The nobility always tend to have a lot of decay and corruption rampant inside them. King Azoun IV despite his vaunted name, a big flirt, lust-minded and father of so many "orphans" and proclaiming his actions to be strengthening the realms. Tessaril Winter, while a Lady Lord, but sleeps and flirts excessively with King Azoun IV. Is this the proper image of a true just and fair King who preaches just, fairness and goodness while engaging in such lusty activities?

Is Tessaril doing this just to keep her position and does the female War Wizards do this to keep their position?
Even Alusair despite all her iron image, rumored to had been bedded by those fops she regularly ride and patrol with, can she be a just ruler with such corruption inside her?
Is she worthy of being a role model to King Azoun V and is the path of moral corruption and decay proper for a young infant?
Old Vangerdahast also reputed to be a flirt and rumored playboy as well who doesn't bat an eye at the sight of nudity, what do you think?

3) The Seven Sisters. It appears Qilue Viladorn, Sylune Silverhand and Alassra Silverhand are untouched by the moral and social corruption and decay.
For Dove, it is well known in Silverfall if you read her part especially the part about her conversation with the ex-slaver. Is she faithful and is this fair to Florin Falconhand? In my eyes, NO.
For Storm Silverhand, famous for her lack of morals concerning nudity and flaunts it very regularly, if you read Stormlight, it is evident, whereby she dared to walk round without clothes in front of a large mob. Is the moral decay so rampant inside her that she lost sight of personal conduct?

For Alustriel Silverhand, having over twenty consorts and keeping the consorts as if it was a harem(no offense) and like a bunch of drooling puppies. Is this befitting one who wields the respect and awe of so many in the realms? While on one hand, she fights for peace and order, yet there is moral decay within her.

For Laeral Silverhand, a lady who dare to change garments in front of male apprentice without shame, and even going down on her knees to kiss Mirt's grimy boots!!!!!!!!() and sometimes flaunting her nice figure. Is this befitting a Lady who wields considerable authorithy and respect in Waterdeep and while her loyalty and faithfulness(a bit off occasionally) to Khelben is respected by me and my friends, but is this fair to Khelben? Small wonder Waterdhavians guffaw behind Khelnen's back. How deep is the moral and social decay within Laeral?

3)Khelben is not exempted from the corruption as well, for he had many offspring with many women while courting Laeral, if he really loves Laeral, is it just for Khelben to go round sleeping with other ladies and having so many "orphan" offspring just because he cannot control the "thing/urge" inside him before he became "loyal" to Laeral? is this fair to Laeral?
Are the tactics and strategies Khelben use to achieve his righteous goals indicative of the dark decay of moral and principle decay/corruption within the paragon of Waterdeep?

Same case for Elminister before he got the Simbul, before the Simbul, it is unknown how many ladies El slept with and how many children can claim blood ties to Elminister, so whatz your comments about the moral decay inside these two great archmages supposedly to be the paragons of virtue and righteousness in the realms? Is this how a righteous paragon should act?

******(Must answer)4) If there is a faith that preaches supports anti-corruption and anti-decay in all its ugly forms, which faith is that?
Would you join that faith that preaches and supports war against all the ugly forms of corruption and decay?
~Would your Players and DM support a crusade to purge and purify the realms of all the forms of decay and corruption even if it means killing the God of decay and corruption-that exiled Lord of Hell.(As my players and DM are considering using Lathander's Military Wing to launch a holy war against all the ugly corruption and decay in the realms)

So any more realm icons with moral/social or any non-physical decay and corruption in them?

First off, please kill the colors; they make my head hurt. Secondly, you're making huge sweeping generalizations based upon real-world ethics(specifically, Judeo-Christian ones), which do not necessarily correspond to Realms ethics. This topic is useless and will only lead to trouble; it has no basis in actual constructive Realms discussion(a similar thread, addressing the same topics from a Realmsian ethical perspective does have merit, however.)
