We pronounce it Leer-Ee-uhl. Just like cereal except with an L instead of a C. We pronounce Ryld just like build except with an R instead of a b at the beginning. Of course Elaine would be the definitive source on how to pronounce it.

I always pictured it sounding more like Lih-Ree-Ell. Lih (like lid of a jar), Ree (like reed), Ell (like the name of the letter "L.) But you choose the name because you like the way it sounds when you read it/say it, so that's all that matters.

Hurray! (Hurrah!)
Narnra, Shandril, Alustriel (as evidenced by GenCon encounters), Laeral (ditto), and several Storms . . . Ed's in a way responsible for the names of an increasing number of real-life people.
Which will probably please him no end.
love,

Hehe... that doesn't surprise me in the slightest.

The Lady K and I didn't even find it strange that the first eleven names on the "Baby Name List" we composed before Narnra was born, consisted entirely of long-time FR characters. Five were purely Ed characters, three were from Steven and the remaining names were from Elaine.

Impressive. Very impressive.

Life is either daring adventure or nothing.

Shandril is a pretty name. I'm so happy to hear this.

"Instead of asking why we sleep, it might make sense to ask why we wake. Perchance we live to dream. From that perspective, the sea of troubles we navigate in the workaday world might be the price we pay for admission to another night in the world of dreams."

Well met

I don't know what's wrong with young folk these days. What's wrong with using some good old-fashioned names, like "Alaundo"?!

First Congra!!!
Everytime I hear the name liriel it reminds me of Shir-el Which in hebrew is god's song.
And if you must know(and you must cause i decided to share thiswith you :) ) Liriel can also be translated to The god's lyrics. But enough of my language... The most importent thing is that your girls is going to be healthy and smart and beautiful... Mazal Tov...

Geezer comes to mind. :)

For some of us, books are as important as almost anything else on earth. What a miracle it is that out of these small, flat, rigid squares of paper unfolds world after world, worlds that sing to you, comfort and quiet and excite you... Books are full of the things that you don't get in real life - wonderful, lyrical language, for instance, right off the bat. - Anne Lamott, Bird by Bird

Strangely, Alaundo never appeared on my "Baby Name Listing."

Tethtoril did though.
