Apologies for reposting this question. This sub-forum seems to have more traffic.
The ruler of Halruaa is known by the title "Netyarch"
The great druid of the Great Dale has the title "Nentyarch"
Is there a connection?

Netyarch is proberly a word based upon an old Netherese title, which i doubt that Nentyarch is |
what happened to the queen? she's much more hysterical than usual

That and Ed really liked to throw his players for a loop in the original campaign by naming things very similiarly to confuse them or send them on wild goosechases.

You're probably correct. I just thought that Netherese explorers might have influenced other languages around the Realms (without consulting proper sourcebooks first).

| they might have gotten as far as Great dale ... (even though i doubt that they was there alone with Mulhorand rather close by) ... but i don't think they had all that much influence there since the humans thats pretty much the forefathers of Great Dale had rarly gotten there yet |

| I've often wondered where the people of narfell suddenly picked up their mastery of demonic magics. My natural thought is that they discovered some ancient Imaskari magic along with possibly getting some training from the demons which seemed to have influenced the area (Orcus and Eltab predominantly). However, there is the idea that some netherese came to this part of the world with their flying mountains (or possibly via spelljammer, since they had discovered spelljamming technology and then got smacked by illithids... in a Knarr that fell from the sky). |

| Sleyvas ... you really should read Lost Empires of Faerun ... they mastered a spell device that could enlarge and transmit spellpower into a levitate spell surrounding the city / mountain, and therefore had a bunch of spellcasters throwing spellpower into it (at least thats how i remember offhand without books at me) |

I know I'm a bit late for this thread but:
I'm going to have to throw in and say there is no connection either. One is the title of the rulers of Narfell and is now the title of the druid that rules the druids of the Great Dale.
The other has connections to Netheril and thier ancestors. |

That would be a Netherese enclave. However, they had their upside down mountain enclaves for a long time before they ever discovered spelljamming (i.e. mounting a magical helm to a ship and delving into space). The Netherese did participate in spelljamming late in their history, and they started experimenting on mind flayers (i.e. performing autopsies.. sometimes living ones, I believe). Of course, this p'o'd the illithids and they smacked the fledgling Netherese spelljamming fleet out of the sky. Its all in the original source for Netheril. |
