I very much liked those boards, even in the time I was only a "guest" reader.

But like our head moderator said, there is a really bad mood here these days and I tired of it, so I'll take a break and enjoy FR running my two campaigns and reading the tons of novels I have on my bookshelves.

Hello-

Take care Skeptic - and enjoy the gaming!

Consider putting the minstrel to work - so you can be informed about article releases here - always seems to be some good information ripe for using in a game!

Dhomal

I am collecting the D&D Minis. I would be more than willing to trade with people. You can send me a PM here with your email listed - and I can send you my minis list. Thanks!

Take care Skeptic.

I am starting to agree with you about the mood at times, but I will stick around and hope it calms down. Enjoy your realms and don't make the break from Candlekeep to long.

Jorkens.

Amusingly enough, I've been considering the same thing, but it's been negativity that I've noticed probably from the "opposite side" of the negativity that everyone's been worried about.

Good luck, Skeptic!

Fare thee well, Skeptic

Sorry to see thee go. I certainly hope ye return here soon, when hopefully things will be brighter

It is situations like this, that I wished to avoid. Making scribes such as Skeptic feel uncomfortable to the point in leaving is saddening indeed

Fare well. Skeptic!

Enjoy your game and reading sessions and drop in every now and then to notice the mood swinging back in a direction more to your liking.

May Our Lady of the Forest smile upon thee and may the great Lord of Knowlegde and Binder of what is Known always grant thou His blessings.

I guess I'm just abnormal. I prefer others to be negative about things when they warrant negativity. It's for the same reason that I always want the blatant truth from people, even when it hurts or (especially!) when it makes me look stupid. I'd rather learn something I didn't know before.

Seriously, this isn't really a new phenomenon. Some people have always accentuated the positive, while others have done the same with the negative; it's the presence of the two mindsets that give creativity form. In science, if you do an experiment, it's EXPECTED that you do things right, and that only the negatives be pointed out. You don't hear, "Oh, you did the measurements really well, here!" (Unless they are in some way exceptional to the point of not being the norm), but you do hear, "You could have fitted the graph a little tighter, here," or the like.

What I'm saying is this: negativity has been a part of civilization since humanity was formed, when the first human stepped out of his cave and was attacked by a wild cat. From then on, he learned to look at the negatives of a situation.

The trick is not to let that negativity disuade you from enjoying life. As Ben Franklin put it, being a pessimist means that one is never disappointed, and sometimes delightfully surprised.

Not trying to be pugnacious here; just providing a look from 'the other side.' Being positive for no reason can be just as destructive as unnecessary negativity. :)

There's nothing wrong with saying what "I" want, as long as someone realizes that it may not be the same as what everyone else wants.

And I think that Ed's quote in my signature is surprisingly relevant if we look at the "me-me-me syndrome." ;)

Aliverithay, Skeptic.

Hope to see you around again soon.

***

To Dan and Patrakis: Is it really necessary to illustrate personal points of view in Skeptic's farewell thread?

Let's please keep to the subject (his farewell) and leave the pontificating to whole new scrolls.

J. Grenemyer

09/20/2008: Tiger Army at the Catalyst in Santa Cruz. You wouldn’t believe how many females rode it out in the pit. Santa Cruz women are all of them beautiful. Now I know to add tough to that description.
6/27/2008: WALL-E is about the best damn movie Pixar has ever made. It had my heart racing and had me rooting for the good guy.
9/9/2006: Dave Mathews Band was off the hook at the Shoreline Amphitheater.

Never, ever read the game books too literally, or make such assumptions that what is omitted cannot be. Bad DM form, that.

And no matter how compelling a picture string theory paints, if it does not accurately describe our universe, it will be no more relevant than an elaborate game of Dungeons and Dragons. --paragraph 1, chapter 9, The Elegant Universe by Brian Greene

No matter the subject of pontification, it is still pontification if you're trying to enlighten another person as to the correct course of thought. ;)

In any event, I'll retire from this thread now. G'day, folks.

All the best. I can't say I'd noticed any bad mood, but I have to confess I've been an irregular visitor of late.

I have not noticed a 'bad mood' either, Reefy. Mayhaps it is just a few negative voices in the crowd that seem to disagree? I'm not sure without specifics. That said, farewell Skeptic, and there are those who hope to see you back at your scribe's desk soon enough.

Farewell Skeptic. Hope to see you back again though I may be not a regular face here, I so far had noted little to no bad moods here.

We have fostered trust, recruited loyalty, and gathered the faithful. We have trained thousands. Our legions can cover the land, fill the sky and travel through the darkness. We can hunt any and all that would deny our heritage. Now is our time, now is the time of the Dark Reign(Rain) of the Empire of Shadows.

Skeptic, best of luck with the running of your FR campaigns. Hopefully, you'll still find time to wander these hallowed halls to enjoy the lore and fellowship that can still be found here. Fare thee well, and 'ware the dragons, for I hear they have awoken from their slumber - and awoken with a fierce anger!
