Learned Sages,

I knock on the door of Candlekeep, yet again, requesting the benefit of your wisdom...

As a part of a current project I am working on I have been reviewing Myth Drannor's timeline. In it appears brief bits of info on a Red Dragon (Garnet?) who plays a part in the history and downfall of MD. It states that this good? aligned Red Dragon releases the Trio Nefarious. How does this happen? Is it detailed in any Realms source? Is it, perhaps, in Cormanthyr? I have it downloaded but have not perused it yet... The timeline also does not say whether Garnet dies when he attacks the Trio. Is Garnet still alive? I would appreciate any lore you can provide me.

It is in Cormanthyr and in the Fall of Myth Drannor. Lost Empires of Faerun should have some info but it's the same info from the two 2e sourcebooks.

As far as we know, he's still alive.

For some of us, books are as important as almost anything else on earth. What a miracle it is that out of these small, flat, rigid squares of paper unfolds world after world, worlds that sing to you, comfort and quiet and excite you... Books are full of the things that you don't get in real life - wonderful, lyrical language, for instance, right off the bat. - Anne Lamott, Bird by Bird

The first two sources Kuje mentioned are available for free downloading from the Wizards downloads page.

Steven Schend has dropped some tidbits about him, as well.

Garnet's fate is undetermined. Steven left him that way deliberately and he may play with this character again, I suspect.
