Inventory
  • Items Readied
    • "Laengfang" ("Longtooth" - Short Sword of Quickness +2)
      • ("Laengfang" Made of meteoric iron which appears reddish in hue. The plain hilt is made of the same metal and wrapped in white leather.
The Auld Thorassic word for "Longtooth" is emblazoned across the white leather of the hilt. No jewels or engravings adorn the simply, but finely crafted blade.
Nimroar himself is said to have commisioned the creation of this piece long, long after founding Nimroar’s Hold (Waterdeep)).
    • "Firsting" (Dagger +2)
      • (A Diamond-bladed dagger (Intelligent; Int- 15 AL - CN Ego - 11; Telepathy with Wielder; it Detects Magic 10' radius at will; Strength on Wielder once per day; at utterance of command word blinks into its owner’s hand as long as within 30 yards).
It hates all Goblinoids and does automatic full damage on those creatures (bugbears, goblins, hobgoblins, orcs, etc.).
Caith discovered this piece, or it could be said that "it discovered her", within the Mere of dead Men (a vast salt swamp along shore of the Sword Coast).
Seldom visited by men, the Party found themselves deep within the desolate infect-infested wasteland. There had been an ancient orc victory over men, dwarves, and elves long, long ago in this salt marsh. "Firsting" does not remember much of its creation but does recall being lost in that horrific battle so long ago. He has been willingly and happily in Caith’s position ever since.)
    • Daggers (x4)
    • Fine Silver Darts (x9)
    • Throwing Knives (x4)
  • Items Worn
    • Necklace of Protection +2
      • (Caith stole this necklace from a wealthy waterdhavian merchant many winters ago. Truth be told, she stole it from the manor of Mirt the Moneylender in Waterdeep. This was long before her escapades in the Stonelands (See History Below)).
    • Scarab (beetle) Amulet of protection +1
      • (Beorn discovered the scarab on one of the Party’s expeditions which took them close to the Fallen Lands. He gave it to her as a gift after he discovered (from Lady Snowling) what it did)
    • "Huaer" ("Horse Singer - Bracers of Defense AC2)
      • (Beautiful reliefs of horses either galloping, or charging, adorn these Bracers of Defense (AC 2). The name "Horse Singer" appears in Espruar runes (moon elven) along the outer edge of each bracer. There is a story to the elven name "Huaer". It is said that a great elven horse breeder named Helevorn Galain once lived in the realm of Earlann. His horses were the very best in health and training. He had a great gift with all horses.
There was a Mage named Maeglin Itarilde’ who loved horses. It was her one great passion after magic. The Mage was curious and wished to learn the secrets Helevorn "Horse Singer" used in handling the animals so well and obtaining excellent stock. When she asked the famous horse trainer, the other laughed and smiled. "I’ll teach you my secrets," he said. "But you must grant me a boon. My wife is sickened by the news of more fighting with the Icebeasts Orcs. Give me something that will put her at ease." As all of Earlann knew that the "dogs of war" were inevitable. Delzoun and Netheril were already mustering for the horde that was gathering far off to the North.
The young female was touched by the husband’s request. She chose to make him no simple gift, but rather a work of art. Maeglin Itarilde’ worked diligently with an elven smith named Uril Fairfeather. Whenever she could - the Mage would leave smith to his work on the item and study Helevorn’s secrets. He was a generous teacher and she learned much. Several seasons followed and the elves were already marching off to defend the realm against the greatest orc horde ever seen. Maeglin gave her teacher the bracers on his mustering day. She and Helevorn’s wife prayed together as he left with the other warriors. He and the Bracers of Defense were never heard off again. Caith fought a half-orc mercenary in a bloody bar room brawl several winters past. The fight was going badly for her so she stuck him several times with "Firsting" her dagger and the half-orc never hit her again. She took the well made copper bracers he wore off and noticed Espruar runes. She took it as spoil of combat)
    • Girdle of Speed
      • (The Elven Mage of Earlann, Maeglin Itarilde’, is also said to have gifted the warrior Helevorn with a Girdle of Speed. This item was also worn by the beastly half-orc that broke Caith’s jaw and three ribs. She assumes he must have raided Helevorn’s cairn or found the remains.)
    • "Vanisher" - Ring of Invisibility
      • (Caith found this ring in the lair of Rock Troll deep within Troll Hills. She robbed the belongings of a Mage that the Rock Troll had just killed. Having pilfered it from the troll’s own den as the beast was away, Caith ran far off before she checked anything.
The ring was within the Mage’s backback with clothes and several other personal belongings. She would sell the spellbooks for good coin later, but kept the plain silver ring she had discovered.
The silver band always feels cold to the touch. Actually, the ring is Sentient. It is believed to be the essence of an elven mage’s spirit. The mage seems to have imprinted a part of himself onto the item – the result of a magical ritual gone awry. The sentience may only communicate with the wearer while the ring is on and being used. The wearer is always under Improved Invisibility while the ring is on (worn).
When worn the sentience refers to itself as "Cold Spirit" and may only communicate with wearer. "Cold Spirit" whispers most of the time, but is constantly advising its wearer what to do for good or ill. Whenever worn, Caith has tried hard to block him from her thoughts because the ring often breaks her concentration with his barrage of barely audible questions and comments!)

Character Description and History

Appearance

Caith is a generally charming, bright eyed woman. She appears a lot younger than she is. Caith is fair with cute angular features and a mischevious smile.

Her hair is cut short like a young page, simply because it is easier to keep in the profession she is in. A black spiral shaped tattoo adorns the back of her neck. It is the mark of a thieves’ guild in Iriaebor that she once belonged to. The guild is now extinct, but a few survivors beside Caith remain.

She speaks in a low soothing, voice that is not unkind to hear. Caith tries to keep a low profile and is generally very polite. The clothes and equipment she is wearing is almost always in good repair.

History

"I’ve certainly been to other places – Cormyr, Osteir, Westgate. It was in Cormyr where I ran into a great deal of bad luck. Well I won’t bore you with the details, but I found myself on the run, fleeing north. I ended up in the Stonelands with very little in the way of provisions."

"The good news is I’m alive and well to tell the tale of my long sleep. I was happy not to be spending time in some dungeon or worse a chopping block! I was, however, utterly lost. Having strayed far from any recognizable path, bad turned to worse as it began to rain! I sought refuge in a cave and came upon the remnants of a campsite. When I moved deeper into the cave and started a fire a saw two dead fellows – mere skeletons in rags."

"As I went through their belongings I found several valuable items and pocketed them immediately. I examined the copses that were many winters old. Neither were heavily armed and there was no armor or shields about. Nor were their horses, but oddly enough there were saddlebags tucked in the depths of the cave. Here my curiosity had gotten the best of me. I remember finding three tomes and opening the first page of the largest one – then a blinding light seemed to light the whole cave. It was so brilliant that it hurt my eyes. As I blinked, I became very dizzy – suddenly all was well and a beautiful elven female stood over me. She was leaning over me giving me feywine mixed with water. I could not recall how I ended face-up on the earth."

"We were not alone, there were others in the cave. There was a one-eyed dwarf and a wild elf. Both heavily armed. The long and the short of it is the largest tome’s ward had me held in a force field for eight winters! For me no time had gone by at all, but I had been out of circulation for nearly a decade. My deliverers have turned out to have good intentions and have since become my friends. We’ve traveled many leagues together. I’m just grateful that it was eight years instead of eighty!"

Character Description and History

"My short history is filled with pain. Yes, yes. I’m getting to it! My cousin always says that deep down I’m just full of resentment and hatred. When I ask why? She replies ‘everything.’ What does that mean?"

"Anyway, my mum was an adventurer so Caith tells me. She was from, uh, from Athkatla in Amn. I don’t remember her. It still makes me angry. She was murdered when I was still a baby. My father and Caith’s father were brothers. They’re both gone now, too. Just like my mother, gone."

"I was raised with the other kin. I won’t say more about that. I can’t talk too much about the thieves’ guild. But it’s where Caith’s sister started teaching me. I had a lot of cousins, aunts, and uncles there, but not all were blood relatives. I turned to stealing well. I learned much. Not long after Caith’s sister died, Caith showed up at the ‘family dwelling’. Eight winters had come and gone and no one had heard from her. I was too young to remember the day she left us."

"She came with outsiders and things got really complicated. I’m still not sure what happened, but Caith and her friends angered the elder somehow, but there was another guild and their elder got involved in the mess too. Well, I’m not sure, but they had to leave in a hurry and I decided to follow. They say that our guild is no more. Everybody went their separate ways. Hmm, I really shouldn’t say any more about that. It would be an adventurer’s life for me! Wherever, Caith goes I now go. She’s my good friend and I have nowhere else to go."

"No other guild would have me after what they said I did! I never poisoned a guildmaster! All lies! Caith did, but she’s denying it all the time. I guess I had no choice but to follow her. I help a lot with the Company. They don’t seem to mind having me along. Lady Snowling is a great friend. She’s a beautiful elven princess. She says that I have an old soul."

Character Description and History

"I was Born in small Hobbit village near the sea. We call it "Tilo" or Seafarthing. Yes, Seafarthing was a wonderful home, a place of pleasure and comfort. I still remember playing with friends. I was the best at unlocking the big doors into old Bolger’s silversmithy."

"When I was a little sprout I would always hear the tales of my uncle Nate, a retired adventurer. The world seemed so exciting. I thought it would a good and easy life with five meals a day and much entertainment. I was mistaken, of course, but after some mishaps I met Caith and her young cousin. It was then that our luck began to change."
