Character Description and History

Darkon Chaosbane is feared by all giants throughout the Savage North, due to his prowess (giants fear his name) and giving nature (a true peasant hero). Darkon Chaosbane is a very charismatic man (a true gallant), but can be very socially inept at times (he can be quite oblivious). He has memorised the whole law of Tyr, and qoutes

it given half a chance. He is a gifted storyteller (much can be said less of his cooking), and can spin an epic that will leave his listeners in tears. Darkon is dutyful, loyal and artistical about Tyr. If someone ever cries for help, Darkon will answer (his god moans that he gets easily sidetracted, but his intentions are justice).

Darkon was adopted by Tyr after he was left on the doorstep of one of his shrines. Darkon bore the favour of Tyr, and had a natural affinity for law and injustice. Darkon became one of Tyr's first paladins (there number only nine) to serve Tyr's will. It became clear to Tyr that this loose fanatical canon was best aimed at retribution to punish injustice. Although Darkon was borderline in his justice, his faith was unswerving. The slightest injustice gets Darkon active, ready to dispense punishment like a hawk, disembowling evil. When crimes continue to go unpunished, Darkon was sent in. Due to his fervor, Darkon always responds to injustice, creating sidetracts to watch evidence and dispense justice to protect the oppressed. Darkon is a hero amongst the Savage North, and is viewed as a Saviour of the People, the Fist of Tyr, the Slayer of Injustice, and a Slayer of Giants. Darkon has no need for wealth, and after taking the temple tithe from the treasures he encounters, he dispenses it into the poverty stricken. Peasant communities thrive when Darkon Chaosbane comes to town, and praises are sung to Tyr for his gift of aid from oppression. Bad luck at the most convenient times follows Darkon (as he is permanently cursed by Besheba), but "luckily" for him, Lady Luck watches over him. He is sometimes accompanied by Thabras Stormstaff (CG HM INV14).

When the name of Darkon Chaosbane is heard by evil throughout the Savage North, evil looks over its shoulder. Giants quake in fear, and flee when they see him. The Zhentarim and Cyricists plott their vengeance, and assassins are foiled. Demons grumble and moan, wishing he was on their side. Undead enemies come and go in short order.

One of my most memorible adventures is Darkon withdrawing oppression from Lorkh, ruled by the Zhentarim. The Zhent leader was a powerful shifty mage, with several Cyricist priests at his call. Darkon pledged to a peasant that he will free them from oppression, and instantly embarked on a crusade of terror (well, Zhent pillagers started to go missing, and bodies started turning up). Fearing a small army had invaded, the Zhent leader (forget name) ordered them to be found. Darkon used subterfuge to sneak into the leaders HQ (dressed in a soldiers uniform) and approached the Zhent leader. Darkon replied "I know who the killer is"..."Who? Where is he?"... "Me". Darkon blew the Horn of Valhalla, summoned his armor with a word (The Bands of Readiness), and all hell broke loose. The headpriest of Cyric showed an appearance, and Darkon showed him the error of his ways with the Talisman of Pure Good. The Zhent leader was slain, the army in disorder, and Darkon left to continue his mission.
