Description and History
Gavin is the only son of Jacob Trueblade (Human) and Alastra Silverbow (Elf). Both parents retired to the farming community of Shadowdale after a brief adventuring career. Feeling restless wanting adventure that he had heard so much about Gavin decided to join Narf, a gnome illusionist, and Dover, a halfling thief on a treasure hunt in nearby Myth Drannor.
Arriving in Myth Drannor without incident the party was ambushed by a group of Mind Flayers (Illithids). During the chaos of the battle Gavin tumbled through a gate, transporting him to safety. The fate of his friends unknown Gavin returned to Shadowdale staying long enough to say goodbye to his parents and vowing to find or avenge his friends.
Traveling through the Dalelands Gavin was captured by a group of Zhentish slavers. After a short imprisonment Gavin was liberated by a troupe of Harpers. The Harper group was led by the human wizard Solanteris, founder of the ‘Dracosian Order’, and Harper Lord. With him, were Nokori Yan, a human samurai, and Gavin’s future sponsor Verath. After the rescue while the party settled down for the night Verath told Gavin of the Harpers and their mission to save the world of Toril from the forces of evil.
He also gave Gavin some background on “The Dracosian Order” or “The Order” as it is called within the ranks of “Those Who Harp…” The order was founded over 50 years ago by his companion Solanteris, who had noticed the building of the power of “The Cult of the Dragon”. Solanteris felt that the harpers were doing too little to combat “The Cult” so he created an order of Knights Dedicated to preserving the Good dragons of Toril, over time Solanteris has forged alliances with most of the Good Dragons of Toril.
However there are some goodly dragons that have still not heard of “The Order”. Solanteris is hoping to rectify this with his next trip to “Harper’s Hall” in Buldar’s Gate, recruiting members for his “Order” in the hopes that he can spread the word and expand his expeditions into the far reaches of Toril.
Verath offered Harper sponsorship Gavin, and promised to also set up a meeting for Gavin to apply to “The Order” when the time was right… However at this time Gavin is but an initiate into the Harpers, and his promotion to “The Order” will have to wait.
After their arrival at “Harper’s Hall” Verath was called to meet with the Harper council. When he returned he gave Gavin a Harper Pin that would allow the two of them to stay in contact. Distance does not matter, but the item has only 5 charges, and can only be used to gain advice from Gavin’s sponsor.
Shortly after parting with his Harper sponser Gavin was set upon by a Orcish War Party. Gavin fought the brave fight but in the end perished, providing his companions the time they needed to escape.
Gavin's Long Term Goals
- He wants to gain a position in the
Harpers and eventually in The Dracosian
Order
- He wants to gain vengeance for the
deaths* of Narf and Dover
- He wants to gain knowledge about the
Realms
- He wants to gain a name and place in
society
*Narf and Dover might not be dead, they might have run away, or they might be slaves of the Mind Flayers.
